I would suggest you join the air force. You're less likely to be deployed, and if you are you're less likely to be killed or wounded. Since yo say you're a computer tech, you could probably handle the mental aspects to being an air force pilot.

I've heard the navy's universities are the best, but I'm not sure if that's true, and in the navy you'd be less likely to attend them in a sustained way.

You may want to tone things down a bit. I'm an officer in the C&E Branch and I work closely with the American military. If you join the airforce (which I suggest) then there is a chance that you would work with or for me. I can tell you that you will be in contact with American troops throughout your career. In fact, you could even end up posted in the US, if you so desire. One thing I can tell you is that I've always had good experiences working with them.

As for your choice, if you want to become an NCM (non-commissioned member) then there is no requirement, except that you do well on a the enterance test. However, if you already have a diploma and some work exprerince than you can get in easier and will start as a coporal, which is a huge pay increase.

If you have a degree, then you can join as an officer. I'm what is known as a CELE officer, and the Army equivilent is called Signals. There used to be a signing bonus of 40k, but I'm not sure if that is still being offered.

Your first step should be to check out the DND website : www.dnd.ca and get a feel for what is available. You should then go to your nearest recruiting office and talk to one of the recruiters. Then tell them that you will do anything, as long as you get to wear a blue uniform - trust me they will proably try to steer you to the Army because they need more people there.

Hope this helps

Can a Muslim that is a Canadian citizen by birth serve in the Canadian military? -Of course they can. Do you have to be baptized to join the Canadian military? -What kind of question is that? The Canadian military has nothing to do with religion. Do you have to know how to speak French? -If you need to at any point in your career, they will teach you how.
