This is not a joke, and sarcastic answers are not appreciated, but there is a clinical drug that literally makes you sick when you drink alcohol so alcoholics dont want to drink anymore. What kind of drugs are available like that? I do believe they are over the counter.

And also, how do ASK your doctor for it? Do you just ask your regular practitioner? Or do you have to go to someone specific? And how to you tell them - you are an alcoholic, you've tried to quit for a few years but you can't/...is that the right use for the drugs too? thanks everyone!

Disulfiram or Antabuse. You will vomit if you drink alcohol. There are newer prescription drugs that are for alcoholics that won't make you sick such as Revia and Campral.

Antabuse. I don't know whether or not one can buy it over the counter, at least in the U.S., but I don't think so. You would need to check with a physician or pharmacist about that. All the best.

Antabuse, but you have to take IT first then drink. No, they are not available OTC.
