I tried expaining to my friend that I am just not into spirituality and that I am therefore, beyond conversion.

Why do believers not understand that some people are just not 'hardwired' to be believers and some are?

Christians often think we are agnostics, we are confused and such...

Believers believe that everyone is wired for God, because that is what the Bible teaches. Right now, you are not ready to receive what your friend is saying and that is okay. But don't reject it either, put those views and thoughts on the shelf and think about what has been said. A true friend will tell you the truth but never will force you to accept something you don't want to accept. Maybe your Christian friend can stop talking about spirituality and find a common ground with you.

The notion that you are not a spiritual person is beyond their ability to understand. Often their faith is such a central part of their lives that they can't imagine anyone doing without. A frequent shortcoming: Assuming that everyone else in the world would be just like them.

I believe I have their behavior figured out. It all has to do with faith. Faith is a virus, and a deadly one, that convinces people to place bombs or fly planes into buildings. It is hard for people to let go of faith, some people will repeat false things over and over in their heads, without even questioning the truth of it. Your friends may be afraid of you, afraid that you are an evil person or afraid that he or she might be sinning by hanging out with you. Try to convince your friend that you are a good person, and it does not take religion to be have morals. The virus of faith is telling him that anything other than his own belief is evil, but in reality it isn't good vs evil, it is only believing or not, which has nothing to do with morals. I hope this advice helps.

Ask your friend if he/she truly believe in the free will that is supposed to be a human's. Some Christian's believe in free will and some do not. If your friend believes in free will then tell her/him that it is your choice to be spiritual or not. If your friend does not believe in free will then that is their answer...you weren't "supposed" to be spiritual. (It's an interesting argument that I sometimes have with my pre-destinational Christian friends.) I personally am spiritual, but not religious. I believe in free will and I don't believe any one person, or group, or religion has the 'right' answer.

I've been told that they think I'm actually an agnostic, despite the fact that I do not, in any way, believe in deities. I think it's just their not wanting to hear what we are saying... I find they also seem to quickly forget that we aren't all believers, even a good friend will seem to just up and forget.

Do you know for a fact that you are actually hardwired to be a disbeliever? I mean that seems to be a fairly bold claim to make based solely on your disinclination to believe. Also, speaking as a Christian, belief may be harder for some people than others, but if Christianity is true, which as a Christian I believe, salvation must be possible for all people so no one can in principle be beyond hope of salvation, even if such as yourself they believe they are not "hardwired" for belief.

Because something so wonderful and neccessary to her couldn't possibly be ignored by you. I've often wondered if what we believe is more of a reflection of character, and therefore not entirely subject to "do you accept the truth" standards.

Because we all are wired to be spiritual. I agree that your friend needs to back off and just let his actions be his witness to Christ, but you also need to examine yourself. You owe it to yourself to research the Bible to see if it is true, and not some flip through the Bible in five minutes. Examine it, study it and you will be transformed.

I was the same way 3 years ago. My brother used to always want to talk about Jesus and the Bible to me and I was not hearing it. Now look at me...it is all I think about...God is amazing..

I invite you to me blog...I'm not forcing you!

because a key part of their brainwashing is that they absolutely must not exhibit any critical thinking. Thus, their arrogance and ignorance breed hate and misunderstanding of anything that's different from them in any way.

They do not want to understand. They believe that anything a non christian says is a lie so it is automatically blocked from their ubderstanding
