There's this girl I've had a crush on for 3 years, but until recently I was too shy to even admit my own feelings to myself. Now me and her are pretty good friends, but not in a way that I think will lead to dating. She has dated several other guys over the years, and flirted with plenty of others. I know that she has alot more dating experience than me, and I am afraid that I'll make a fool of myself and wind up destroying our friendship, as if me asking her out wouldn't do enough damage already. I know that you only live once, but is that risk worth destroying a valuable friendship? And if it is, what's the best way I can tell her the feelings I have for her?

Hello ... you are not handling the situation properly. You should go NOW and express your feelings to her. Do not even think twice about that.

You see if she is truly friendly with you, this friendship will not be destroyed by just telling her that you want to take her out. Never ever hide/suppress your feelings. How would she know otherwise? Who knows there is a twist in the story. If she says no, take it. If she says NO politely (if she is a nice girl, she'd be polite), take the no gracefully, respect her. If she is rude, don't give her a damn. There are plenty more.

And ... and if she says YES, Wow! In any case you have a win-win situation. So my dear friend, don't waste your time, go and ask her, NOW. All the best.

If your as good as friends as you say then you should tell her how you feel and see how she reacts. Make sure to mention that you don't want things to be weird and you would rather be friends then nothing at all( I'm assuming that's true)

Hi,
Just be yourself. She likes it when you be yourself.
act as usual & just be caring towards her as a friend.
Her true feelings towards you will come after a while.
..
just trust your judgement & be cool always.
hope this helps.
