It depends where you get it done at. CAT scans in the states are run like businesses, most interested in making money. You should shop around since places that do this type of imaging are around everywhere and even advertise for their preventative imaging services.

For University Hospitals in Cleveland, a Maxillofacial/Sinus CAT scan without contrast runs $1,041. If you go to one of these specialty CAT scan places you could pay about a third to a half of that. Also, express your financial concerns to your doctor. A lot of doctors write referrals for diagnostic imaging expecting that the patient's insurance will cover all costs. See if you can get a limited sinus CT instead of a maxillofacial, and that'll save you a few hundred bucks right off the bat.

I had a CAT scan done just around my lower abdomen area, and it was more than $1500.00. There was the scan, plus the other "hidden" costs, such as paying the doctor to read the scan. This was 3 months ago. Most hospitals will set up a payment plan for the part you have to pay.
