I have looked in the organic section, in the natural section, in the spice section and the fresh section. I have no idea what it looks like or if it is a spice. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is and how I can find some. Thanks

Savory (Satureja) is a genus of about 30 species of annual or perennial herbs and subshrubs. It should also be noted that the culinary use of savory is not confined to the flavouring of beans: it goes well with chicken and lamb as well - and may be added with advantage to a bouquet garni of sweet herbs for many purposes. (See the book by Tom Stobart: "Herbs, Spices and Flavourings".)

Savory Leaves
Savory is a very popular herb in Germany, where it is known as "bohnen-kraut" (bean herb). Savory has been gaining popularity here recently. The flavor is a cross between thyme and mint with a touch of pepper. It is traditionally used to season bean soup, but savory also adds nice flavor to chicken or beef soup or stew, baked chicken, pork, stuffing and vegetables. From Albania.

I have never found it necessary to add it anything although I haven't used it in chicken dishes as it came with a spice rack. This was years ago.

Savory is a member of the mint family, and it grows in the Mediterranean, it gives off the flavor of thyme.
I don't think it is as popular as some, so a lot of stores don't bother to carry it.

i grow my own every summer. the seed is not hard to find where i live. it grows about a foot tall over the course of the summer. i plant about a 3' long row of it. tastes great in poultry stuffing and rolled up in a pork tenderloin, then bbq. also add it to turkey soup and lamb chops.
its flavor is very earthy, slightly pungent and musky and with just a hint of peppermint.
