THE THIEF HAS TAKEN ANYTHING OF VALUE THE REST IS IN A DUMPSTER SOME WHERE. YOU WILL HAVE A HELL OF A TIME FINDING IT. TAKE IT AS A LOSE AND BE MORE VIGILANT. BE GLAD THAT YOU WERE NOT HURT. ALL THAT STUFF CAN BE REPLACED YOU CAN'T.

You carelessly left your purse in an area where it could be stolen and now you are calling the police lazy because they can't find it? They already know that by the time you got around to reporting it, your purse was scattered in a million places. Try looking in the dumpsters near where your purse was stolen. Or look on the sides of the roadway in that general area. The good stuff is gone and you will never see that again, but you might get back your driver's license and medical license - things the thief can't use. If you haven't done so, cancel your credit cards and checking account. If your keys were in it, you probably want to change the locks on your door. Most women are totally in the dark about their purses. They leave them in their cars in plain view, put them in the baby seat in their grocery carts and then walk away to study the contents of peanut butter, sit them on the counter at various stores while they answer the cell phone - they are just begging someone to take it. Then the cops are to lazy to look for something they know is gone. So, to answer your question, there is nothing you can do except learn that if someone wants your purse more than you want to keep it, then it is gone.

1. Slow down

2. Express your question clearly in English or any other language

3. We all agree that it's a truly horrible experience to have something stolen and we sympathise with you

4. The sad reality is that there's little point in expecting other people to go looking for it. From their point of view, why should they? There's a 99% chance the money's gone, together with anything else of value. If it's worth it to you, look around the area you had it stolen from -- there's a good chance they've left the documents in it and a reasonable chance they may have left the credit cards.

5. You've already been advised to cancel your credit cards. You should inform the relevant issuers of any other materials and get duplicates.

6. There's one thing you CAN get out of this nasty experience. NEVER leave your purse lying around. I assume from your spelling that you are in the US and that you are not using "purse" in the sense of "change purse" or "wallet" but rather to mean "bag." You can buy a neat bag which goes over your shoulder, fits close to your body, has a zipped pocket on the side next your body for security and a holder for your cellphone on the strap. Don't go out of the house without it ON YOUR SHOULDER.

Were YOU assaulted when your purse was stolen?

If not, if you just left your purse somewhere carelessly, then you're probably just going to have to learn the same lesson the rest of us learn when we're careless: Poo happens.

Here is what YOU should do. Cancel all credit cards, checking accounts, etc. Think of all "identity" related things that were in your purse and report everything to the proper people (Insurance, Social Security, Military I.D.'s, work badges, etc..). After you protect your money and your identity, then start the process of replacing the missing items.

Of course, you should report stolen items to the police... but busy-ness (on bigger issues), NOT laziness, prevents them from dropping everything and focusing on your purse.

Be thankful that you got away with your life, if you were assaulted, and if you were not assaulted, be thankful it was only your purse that was lost.

Well, the police will not look for your purse, since they have more important things to do than going around looking for it, so what you should do is cancel your credit cards, checking account, etc, you will have to replace your drivers license, and social security card, but...you'll be fine. If you're lucky someone might find it and return it to police...I know how frustrating it is to have your purse stolen, you feel violated in a way...but don't expect police to go look for it, sorry this happened to you but...unfortunately this things happen all the time..

If you know who has it tell the police. You just can't guess at who has it, you have to know. I am sure if the police had a suspect they thought was crediable enough to think may of done it they would of checked into it, but until you have some sort of proof of something.............your purse and contents are gone.

Report it to your homeowners insurance. Hopefully you have a clause that allow reimbursement for your loss. All the good stuff in your purse is long gone unfortunately.
