Yes, it was wrong. I am an athiest, and I find that there is nothing wrong with observing and studying different religions. Even if "christianity is all lies" it generally promotes peace and love like most religions, and learning about it isn't a bad thing. Saying "I will destroy you" is definitely wrong. Going to church won't make her automatically Christian. Religion should be a personal choice.

Have you always felt this way about God, that he doesn't exist? Or you once did believe that God exist up until you saw the hypocrisy of religious leaders. If this was the case, no one can blame you for being protective of your sister.

Well, not all religions are hypocrites. If your sister is curioused, let her be. You know what, why don't you go with her and be curious yourself? There is one true religion out there.

I know it's not my business, but you were too harsh on your sister.

You were way out of bounds, and in fact could be prosecuted for false imprisonment, a felony. She is of age, and is entirely competent to decide whether or not she wishes to go to church. I consider church a waste of time myself, but I have no right to make that decision on behalf of anyone else.

Doesn't that behavior run in exact opposition to Atheistic ideals? Isn't the whole point of atheism freedom to choose one's beliefs? How could you violate the only principle that athiests consider sacred?
Worse, your persecution of her attempt will only harden her resolve to see what it was that YOU are so afraid of.

It's likely that you just created a Christian. Congratulations.

ha. I get your point about atheists forcing their beliefs on believers because they feel it's in their best interest is right...

well well. Your analogy is off,
because we don't physically force ANYTHING. We merely point out reason, logic, and scientific FACT based on evidence (the smart atheists do anyway).
have a good day.

Well, she is 19, and unless she's your ward it is wrong. If you're really worried about her just go with her. If you are really against it the more you make a big deal about it the more she's probably going to be attracted to it.

I don't know where you get off trying to force atheism on anybody. It makes you no different from theists who do that. Atheism is about freedom to come to your own conclusions, leave her alone.
