It would impossible to answer this question here but there were many reasons for the failure of the Roman empire. Civil war,Greed lead poisoning, unrealistic agendas, political instability, murder, betrayal I could go on and on.

What's also interesting is the teachings of the Roman Pagans who claimed that after Rome stopped believing in the ancient Gods, Rome would fall. This is part of the reaons why Rome felt that failure to believe in the Gods was a crime.

If by "Became christian" you mean they said that it was christian because it was now the "in" thing to say since the Roman emporer said that he was a christian; but they adopted pagan holidays and the pagan day of worship. Google Constantine see especially AD 324

Confession of any religion by any people does not mean that there will be no immorality though that is the aim. Not all adherent feel bound by equal force to their faith.

Hey papa bear, no time to come out of hibernation. What year did Rome fall? You don't know.
Era of backdoor emperors had 22 of them die within fifty year period...one of them by natural causes. Most must have been liberals, I guess...just like you guess.
