Where are you crossing at? I'm in Detroit. We don't need anything to get into Canada. It's coming back that's the problem. They do ask your citizenship and where you're going. You tell them, drive across the bridge, or go through the tunnel and you're in Canada. They make it much more difficult coming back into the US. Passport required by the end of this year. Right now, they're taking a drivers license and birth certificate.

Here in Michigan, we can go to the local health department. I've also ordered them from the state capital based on an address that I've found online. So look on the website of the state where you were born. Somewhere on there will be information to tell you how to get it.

Yes..you can get a certified copy of your birth certificate from the vital statistics office in the county where you were born. Do not need a passport to go to Cnaada unless youare FLYING, then the law goes into effect on Jan. 23, 2007. Some people are stopped and asked for ID, some are not, never know which cars they will stop. Need photo ID too. Many people have many different experiences because border guards do not always do smae things, but be prepared...especially for re-entry.

Vital statistics will make you a certified copy for around $18-$20 but you need a photo ID for it. So far, you don't need a passport to get into Canada but will soon.

We went to Canada in October. We were told to bring our birth certificates and our IDs. No one ever checked any of them. They were supposed to change the law on that though 1-1-07. Passports were supposed to be made mandatory..

You can get your birth certificates from the Vital Statistics Bldg where you were born.

comparable question as till now. are you a terrorist? They get on the bus and consider each and every persons passport or start certificates. in case you do not have a style of you will no longer get into the U. S.. purely a drivers license is evidence of no longer something. you will would desire to stay in Canada untill you may instruct you're a US citizen.

according to the law, you do not need a passport when driving across the border yet, but the border guards do not know this and will use any excuse to hassle you. so get a passport if you possibly can.

if you are flying you will need one.
