When my daughter was about a month old, she had to stay in the hospital for a week. I stayed with her the whole time, slept, ate, etc in her room. I couldn't shower or really change my clothes there(gross I know, but I didn't want to leave her). When we got home, I said the first thing I wanted to do was to shower and get un-gross. Her daddy told me that I was beautiful even though I hadn't showered in nearly a week.

It wasn't what he said, it was what he did. He somehow managed to find a single wildflower growing in the middle of winter, in a small patch of grass that was surrounded by snow. He just gave it to me and didn't have to say a word.

In June, we'll have been married 22 years, and I still have that flower, pressed between the pages of a book.
