I just wondered if anybody else had the mirena and had experienced this: I bled every day (sometimes hard) for 2 1/2 months after having it put in. Then I quit and at the beginning of last month ( when i normally get a period) I barely spotted and so far this month ( yeah I know three days into it...) i spotted just a little last night, and that was it. I know the thing issupposed to stop your period after a year, but i have only had it about four months. i was supposed to see my doc on Friday but got rescheduled for 3 weeks and it's drivin me nuts.Any opinions or experience??? thanks.

I have had my Mirena IUD for over a year now, and the first couple months I had some spotting, and after that, I have not had a period at all. My bf really likes it because I also don't get PMS! No weight gain, no cravings, no mood swings. It's wonderful!

I have the Mirena Also. I haven't had a period in 3 years with it.
I have noticed that I have gotten some acne which I have never had an acne problem in my life, but I guess I'd rather have acne than a big pregnant belly again. I have noticed very little weight gain. I do get nausea sometimes. But after a little bit it goes away.
After intercourse with my husband it sometimes leaves little cuts on his pen*s. It's not every time but just sometimes.
So, I have to go to the doctor & they move the little string to the other side & that usually helps.
So even though all the side affect, but then again every form of birth control has some kind of side affect, I like the Mirena because I don't have to remember to take it everyday or before intercourse. And I don't gain so much water weight as they call it.

That sounds about normal. I bled for nearly 2 months after mine was inserted. For the first 6 months to a year that I had it, I had a 2 day period. I've had it nearly 2 years now and I only get a period every few months. Even when I get it I only spot and it lasts about an hour or two. Ask your doctor if you are really worried though.

I surely have a Paragard, no longer a Mirena, however the extremely some comparable issues would be conscious: you would be crampy after the insertion. The insertion additionally pinches slightly, form of like a protracted pap smear. Take some Aleve (you could take some earlier the appointment) and get a number of those Therma-relax heating pads. they help SOOO plenty. No intercourse or tampons for a definite quantity of time - your rfile will inform you. it is recommended to have your rfile go away the strings quite long - they are in a position to continually trim them lower back, yet they curl up and are not as pointy after a whilst, as adversarial to shorter strings, which could form of poke. As for Mirena outcomes, i understand a few women get very, very easy to 0 classes while they have it in. yet you're able to nevertheless examine your strings month-to-month, whether you end getting classes.

I have one, and I haven't had a period since before I got pregnant. The IUD was put in when my son was about 7 weeks old, this past March. My OB/GYN, who put the IUD in, said that is pretty much the optimum result.

He said that since I was still nursing when it was inserted, that my cycle just never started up again. I do occasionally have a little bit of spotting and cramps, but not even enough to need a pantyliner.

Just to make myself feel better after my son was 6 months old and I still hadn't had a period, I took a pregnancy test and of course it was negative. You should do the same, just to reassure yourself. That way you're not stressing for the whole 3 weeks that you're waiting for the doctor.

Good luck!

The mirena takes 6months to settle with a regular cycle. It doesn't stop your period. It is supposed to lighten the flow and it is possible it may stop the flow but it isn't what it is designed for. So far, I've only spotted for 2 days in the first month and 1day the second. I've had mine for 2 1/2 months. It's nothing big to worry about. It takes a while for your body to adjust.

Yes, I have one and the same thing happened to me. Only I bled a little longer 3 1/2 to 4 months, but have not had one period since. I have had some spotting, but don't have any spotting on most months. I've had mine for 8mths, and it is working very well for me. It sounds normal to me, but call your doctor just to be sure. I called mine in the third month, and they said it was fine. It put my mind to ease

I got my mirena in October and I still have spotting everyday, enough to wear a liner everyday. It has significantly lightened though. I am breastfeeding a 4month old baby so I havn't had my period yet, but then again, I might not till 2011....lol

The excessive bleeding can be caused by the hormones making your endometrium lining too thin. theres a simple fix for this- a week long low dose of estrogen pills prescribed by your dr. I had the same thing with mine for the first year after i had it.
