Let it go. You are father is an adult and it sounds you and your boyfriend are on the way to becoming adults. He got carried away and emotional and let the term slip. Write it off as that and move on. No need to make a big deal out of it. Sounds like your boyfriend is embarrased and making a mountain out of mole hill.
If it really bothers your boyfriend, speak to your dad about it. He will most likely tell you he understands it was slip. Then you can rely the information to your boyfriend or next time he is over, just have your dad quickly reassure him things are fine.

Things that "pop-out" of ones mouth that later causes embarassment, followed up with a feeling to apologize. If that is what happened then tell your boyfriend if he can live with what he said, forget it, if not, do the right thing and apologize for his description of what happened. He will feel better, learn something from the experience and your father will look at him differently.

If your father tells you something about it then tell him that your boy friend has been wanting to apologize to him but you though it best if he didn't even bring up that embarrassing word again. If you think your father is still thinking about it tell him that your boyfriend wants to apologize to him, but if your father is not saying anything then just let it go

Yeah he should apologize. It would probably show your father that your boyfriend is a respectable guy who knows when he makes a mistake.

Absolutely he should talk with your father. Your father was young once and I'm sure he'll surprise you at how cool he will be. Besides, your boyfriend owning up to his mistake will show your dad his integrity and maturity! That'll be a huge plus for ya'll!
Good luck!
