I'm amazed at how many people said read. While it is a good start, book smarts only get you so far in General Knowledge. You need to be able to visualize and grasp the concepts and ideas in what you are reading and how they relate to the world around you, otherwise all you're doing is memorization. Reading and research is a good start, but not the place to stop, you'll need to take it one step further by applying what you read. Don't be afraid to do some hands-on learning from the things you read. From there you'll be able grasp basic concepts and ideas and apply what you learned to new and different things.

I suggest you to read a lot more: magazines, short stories, newspapers, Yahoo! news. Reading is just the best way to improve knowledge. And if you like to watch TV, try to watch The History channel, People and Arts, A&E, Discovery channel, Travel and Adventure. They have such great programs that help you learn a lot more about the world and human specie. Try and see! Good luck :)

I'm sorry I don't know what GK is. General knowledge? I'm guessing here.
Read. Explore your interests. Make friends with varied age groups and types of people. Listen when others talk. Listen to different types of music. Do things you wouldn't normally do.

Read. Read a lot. Read about anything! Especially current events (read the newspaper). A lot of general knowledge can come from current events. Try reading non-fiction books of various topics, too.
This might help, and is more fun: play trivia games! It doesn't matter if you don't do well at first. You'll actually start learning these bits of trivia as you play.

READ, READ, READ!! Grab a good book or check out the news on the web. If you see a word you aren't familiar with LOOK IT UP!! You can also get the word for the day sent to your e-mail then use it on someone else to test their knowledge. It's a blast!! :-)

read anything you can get you're hands on. Newspapers, magazines, history books etc. This has to be something you enjoy or you will never stick with it. It's not something you can do in a weekend. it takes a lifetime.
