In may 1996, having lost my only daughter to a complex mix of four types of cancer, aged just 17, I founded a youth cancer charity in my daughter's name (www.lauracranetrust.org).

I left my teaching career and have never taken a salary. Having hoped to raise £10,000 a year, we have already reached almost £1,000,000.

I now have a team of staff helping me and to save money on phone calls, I want to use Yahoo Messengerwith voice, calling from our computers instead of on phones.

I am extremely tight with our money and, whilst the headsets will save us money, we will save even more if they are donated.

According to information on the Charity Commission website, for the seven-year period 01/04/98 - 31/03/05, you accumulated a net income reserve of £104,000, out of total income for the period of £572,000. Therefore you don't even distribute all the money that you raise to the research and support projects that you claim to fund on your website. As you have clearly held back 18% for contingencies, you can not expect any business to give you these freebies. The expenditure will be recovered through savings made on telephone charges, in any case. Now please stop exposing your weak financial management skills for all to see, and go out and buy those headsets.

sure you're able to try this, even yet it you will nonetheless be out of pocket for the version between the donation and the tax reductions. in case you donated the $10k you will save approximately $3,3 hundred in taxes yet could nonetheless have $6,seven-hundred decrease than you will have had in case you had no longer made the donation. surely, $250k falls approximately halfway interior the 33% bracket so which you will no longer drop a bracket besides. Spending money to save taxes only approximately in no way pays off. Make the donation for the solid that it does, no longer for any tax reductions.
