I feel like a failure and can't seem to let go of some of my selfish ways. Is it just me or are you struggling to let go and let God remake you too?

Yes it is a struggle. God will help you through this growing phase . It is His Spirit in you that lives and the life you have is in Him (see Gal 2:20). You will always have your own unique talents and abilities and you will always have a choice in how to use them. I have times when I think (italics, please) I regret not being more "worldly." However, I know (italics please) that my greatest joy comes from living a life that reflects the kind of love Jesus wants me, us, to have. At least that's my aspiration. I'm not perfect. Never will be in this life. The beauty in that is that God still abides in us...to help, comfort, teach, forgive, love. The world will always see our imperfections. God sees you, me, through eyes of love and the blood of Christ.

I struggle everyday, you are not alone. I live with a husband that doesn' believe in God and I feel that when I sin it takes him farther away from the truth and if he dies and goes to hell it will be partially my fault. I have been a Christian since I've been a little girl. I attended a Christian school until 5th grade and went to church until I was eighteen and quit. I strayed from God for a long time. Knowing what I know now, I know He's always been there. I still am a Christian and actually try to do the right thing in most circumstances, but I know I have a long way to go. It's much harder now that I'm trying because now I feel strong guilt when I do wrong. I go to church, try to read my Bible, and pray (although I sometimes miss a day). My heavy sins are smoking both cigs and pot. I enjoy pot still and I find it so hard to give up. I don't let it affect my daily life because I only smoke at night before bed, but I know God would probably prefer if I didn't at all. I know God ;loves me anyway and He knows how hard it is for us. He made us. He knows everything about us. That's why the Bible says we are born sinners. People balk at the idea that babies can sin, but think about it. We have to teach them the right way to do things, because even at that age they have a tendency to do wrong. Remember it's much easier being bad then good, so any good we do is a victory over the temptations the devil puts out daily. Don't think of yourself as a failure, think of yourself as human and keep praying that God will take those temptations away from you. With God all things are possible. Good luck and God bless.

The answer lies in your question, in the phrase, the "natural selfish." The point is that it is natural to be selfish or self-centered. To be God centered is supernatural. You can only do it with the Holy Spirit. If it's difficult for you, maybe you should increase the amount of time you spend praying and reading the Bible. This will draw you closer to God, and the closer you get, the more you love Him, the more God centered you become, the better of a person you become.

Be encouraged Sis. The fact that you are concerned and displeased with falling short of God'standard is evidence that God's work is being permitted to go on in your life.

Don't focus on your weaknesses or failure; that will bring defeat.

Victory is obtained in steadfastly beholding Christ. God loves you and appreciates every effort you make to conquer self.

The approval of God rests upon the repentant soul. Keep letting God adorn you with grace and humility and you will continue to reflect His character more and more fully.

Be encouraged Sis. Look up to Christ and away from your own faults and weaknesses.

No, that's not possible. If God is your center, then self won't be able to occupy that throne. Of course, as in everything, there are degrees, and it may take many years and tears before self finally retreats to its proper place, joyously worshiping at the foot of the throne.

The flesh is weak. The spirit and the flesh are total enemies. As you yield more to the spirit, the flesh will weaken. Stay Strong.

Bless you in your walk, continue to yield to Him. When you don't repent immediately. The Holy Spirit is doing a great work inside of you! Rejoice!

Blessings,

To perform your daily routine in the manner in which you are accustomed to is relatively easy.
To try and adapt new habits to replace the old stubborn and familiar ones is often stifling.
When you go to church, just say a prayer to God to help you to become a better person.
Attitude is like an addiction. It just takes time step by step to conquer the demon.

I struggle too. Its a refinement process we go through, and sometimes I pray for God to make me have the desire to even want to change certain things, because my flesh wants to stay in the sin.
