Protein will definitely help you build more muscle, but too much can have a negative effect. Your body can only metabolize so much protein and then your liver goes into overdrive trying to put it somewhere fast enough. I would stick to complete proteins found in animal products, but beware of the calorie content and fat....the two go hand in hand. I usually have a protein shake after my workout since that's the key muscle-building time. Check out this website for more info and suggestions. Good luck!

Your body uses protein to build muscle fibers. I have always heard that when trying to build muscle mass 1.5-2 grams of protein per pound you weigh should be taken depending on the intensity of your workout. Also the kind of protein you take is important try to get shakes that are mostly if not all protein isolate because your body can absorb it all. If you take protein concentrate your body can’t absorb all of the protein you take. Concentrate usually costs more but it is worth it because your body uses it all and it tends to be easier on the digestion system if you know what I mean.
