LOL. It is not Saudi men who do not allow "their" women to drive (an interesting use of a possessive pronoun). It is the government that disallows driving for women. They claim this is based upon Islam, but in reality it is not. No scholar anywhere but the kingdom (and only a tiny minority of them, actually) support this "ruling". If you are interested in observing the closest thing to real Shariah Law, take a look at Malaysia. Its government is run the closest to Islamic Law of all the majority Muslim countries.
However, that being said, one could ask such a question of any number of laws in any country. Why do Americans allow their children to be harmed by the alcohol consumption of adults? (See the folly in the way you phrased the question?)

PS - all that malarky about women not being able to see when wearing a face veil is absurd. The style of niqab worn in Saudia is very easy to see out of when the extra layer of chiffon eye cover is flipped up (the way most women wear it anyway). Try one on. You are able to see exactly the same way with it and without it. The niqab at no time or from any angle impedes your line of sight. Women in Kuwait, the Emirates, Syria, Jordan, the US, the UK and all other countries in the world drive wearing them all the time.

Well I imagine that the guys dont let their wives drive for safety reasons. It can not be possible to drive a car and have a complete view of the traffic and conditions if you have one of those khimar covering your head. Look at the link below for a picture of one of these garments worn. How could they possibly drive a car. Most women I know drive horrible and they arent covered up, I can only Imagine what a nightmare these Saudi ladies would cause on the roads lol.

Allowing them to drive will have many other things to be desired. It is hard to drive with cover in their faces; so, that will be next thing to ask. Then, it is not comfortable to drive with the kind of over coats they have, then they will ask to dress comfortably while driving. Then, they will satrt comparing themselves with Bahrainy women who can drive and dress like the Europeans and it will be the start of many freedoms they'll be clamoring for. Decency as their way to control both men and women will get loose and then the ultra religious will again blame the westerns for all these evil influences they put in their land. They will really never accept that evil is also natural with them, they just lived so long under hypocrisy.

Possibly. Women have virutally no rights in Muslim society. Saudi men are misogynists and restrict women to an inch of their sanity.

ok, um I stay in Saudi and that i completely understand why, and that i agree on it... before everything, there are distinctive people who desire their ladies to stress, yet there are others that stand apposing to tht thought. 2nd, it has no longer something to do with Islam it has to do with how the everybody is third, you will locate human beings claiming the full ladies's secure practices and all however the element is, it somewhat is all with the aid of adult adult males there. i do no longer want to trash Saudi. yet loads of adult adult males act very... stupidly. they actually harass ladies through throwing their numbers at them, following them domicile and then in some way they get their telephone variety and contact and and so on. you know it! if they can drive that long and far without being caught (nearest place is Israel Lol). I think it is so the men know where their wife is and they usually go out together anyway. Women usually take taxis tho. Totally unfair, stupid, and unislamic if you ask me. U never saw da prophet forbiddin from ridin camels haha.

probably because it would be very dangerous for a woman to drive who is veiled from head to toe and barely able to see.
