Judith is a book of the Aprocrypha. Back in the Nicea Council (300 & something AD) the church voted on which books to have in the bible and which to reject. The finalists are in the bible.

The semi finalists are in the apocrypha because some bishops thought they had merit but others did not.

And the remaining books were voted out in the first round. Copies of these books ended up buried in the desert in places like Nag Hammadi in Egypt.

a character? There is no Judith amongst the gnostic texts...unless you're talking about the Book of Jubilees which is just another version of Genesis.

Lilith was in Rabbinical texts but was never in the actual Bible even the gnostic texts.Isiah refers to Liliths in a plural sense as succubi were often called the daughters of Lilith or Liliths.

Jogs memory there oh yeah the one who perished Holophernes by lopping off his noggin'. It's still in the Catholic bible isn't it?

A lot of the Apocrypha was removed from the Bible. First much of it doesn't read the same so it seems out of context.

"those religious writings deemed by Protestants as non-canonical, and called concealed or hidden because their origin was often unknown, or their authority and authorship was spurious or doubtful. Because of their obscure and dubious origin, they are ordinarily rejected as inspired, authentic or authoritative"

Have you read it?

Here's a part for all to read

Then the soldiers went to sit at that grand feast,

his ‘partners in crime’, those bold chain-mailed warriors,

boastful at beer-drinking. Along the benches,

cups were carried frequently; pitchers kept full

the deep bowls of hall-sitters. They drank their doom,

20
those brave warriors, though that ruler, wicked man,

did not expect it. Then Holofernes was

happy in hosting; that hearty friend of men

laughed and shouted and clamored the most loudly,

so that sons of men might hear his surge afar
