Always, ALWAYS!!!! Follow the directions on any product. One or two drops in the affected eye up to four times daily. If you are finding that you need to use Visine more then that, I would consult an eye doctor. Never use more then what the directions say. This goes for any product.

If you get some adverse effects from using too much Visine.....

.....There's a Visine for that.

Yes....if it is the kind with anti-histamine in it, it certainly "gets the red out". But if you use it for too long you will have a rebound release of histamine when you try to come off it.

It is intended to be used short term. But the adverse effects are not permenant, the cure is to stop using it, give it a few days to get back to normal redness.

Visit your doctor to ask about other alternatives for allergy treatments (for eyes and other stuff).....prescription meds.

Visine, et al., could lead to masking a more serious eye condition that really requires a doctor's care. If you find yourself relying on it, I would check it out.

My hubby was told that if you use Visine too much that your eyes will depend on it all the time.
