If you are still a full-time student in the US, your I-20 is properly endorsed and your visa is still valid, you can visit your parents and then return to school in the US without any further formalities.

If your visa has expired, you will need to apply for a new one in Kiev while you are there, using a properly endorsed I-20.

the best sure thing for you is to contact the INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OFFICE at your school and get a guideline on dos and don'ts about taking a trip home(I am a little surprised that they didn't let you know about this already). in general, you need to be a full time student, with all of your immigration papers(with all necessary signatures) and also an official letter from the international student office proving that your course load and status are all correct.
