La: There was a custom in England of old, to baptize ships, prior to launching them as new, sea-faring vessels. Baptism has symbolic meaning to a Christian based on teachings from the New Testament of the Holy Bible. Believing ON God is one thing APART from believing IN God and being baptized. Yes; you can be a believer ON God without being baptized.

You don't have to get baptized to believe; anyone can believe in Him.
Baptism is a step you take that symbolizes your public dedication to do the will of God and to live up to His standards.
We have the example of Jesus when he started his ministry here on earth (Matthew 3:16). He asked to be baptized to symbolize his dedication to God's work.
Then in Matthew 28:19 Jesus told his followers to make disciples and baptize them.
So then it's not that you get baptized to believe in God, it's that you get baptized because you believe and want to serve Him.

Baptism is the public confession of your faith in God, and your promise of a good conscience - therefore, yes, you need to get baptized if you believe in God.
1. Peter 3:21 "The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:..."

No . . . you must receive Jesus Christ's free gift of salvation to be saved and be allowed into Heaven - He won't let those in that aren't his children. Believing is having full faith in that what God says through His Word is what God means and acting on it.
Many people believe baptism is VERY important. Mainly, go to a good a church and before the congregation, publicly admit your faith in Jesus Christ and dedicate your loyalty to His ways and not the world's.
Above all: read the Scriptures, frequently and prayerfully, for it is God's Word to you. There are people who call themselves Christians but don't have the Spirit in them, so His Word is your best defense.
Man, that was heavy. Sorry. *lol*

You are saved when you confess your sins to God and repent and recieve the Holy Spirit. But baptism is still good because it is an outward expression of your faith and because of the symbolism. Baptism is useless without sincere faith, as for sincere faith without baptism...Jesus was baptized, so my adivice to you is to get baptized when you can, but if you get hit by a car and die (hopefully that won't happen) before you can be baptized, you're still okay.

You don't "HAVE TO" anything, it's your life, it's your beliefs, if you believe in God, then you believe in God, no one here can tell you the right answer, they are only human, and have NO FURTHER KNOWLEDGE in God than you do. If you believe in God, that's good enough, you do not recieve any brownie points for going any further than that, a pure heart is a heart worth keeping!

May be or may be not.
On another thought what does baptizing have to do in believing in God. Unless it is an enlisting ritualistic process in a religion to make others as witness to your joining it.
