Is it Government policy to discourage patients from getting minor ailments treated by consultants under NHS. Have to pay instead for operations or specialised treatment. e.g. varicose veins, euthyroid eye, hip replacements.

I had a battle with my doctor for ages until he referred me to a specialist! My operation would of cost me £6000 but with persistence i got it on the NHS!

I had this problem with my mother it is sad only it is like fighting with them you have to stand your ground and insist sadly to say it is all about finance now, get what you are entitled to is not as easy as it used to be only insist

That's only if you can get past the doctors receptionist first
