If you want to go lighter you will have to first take out the color you now have. That means using a lightener. Follow the directions and then buy the color you want and follow the directions. This will give you the lighter strawberry blonde that you want. You'll have to touch up the roots of course and this is very drying. Save the conditioner and use it and always use cool water to rinse your hair to close the folicles and finish drying on cool too. Then when you decide to darken again you'll need to keep putting your natural color or whatever color you want on. Good luck. Have fun. Hey, you can always buy a color close to your own or darker and keep it just in case. Also, all colors have PH. #'s to call and ask if you have questions. Fading highlights can be cured by using a purple stuff or a blonde shampoo every few days after it starts to fade. It'll bring it back but it is drying too. So, condition often.

I don't really have red hair, I'm sorta naturally strawberry blonde, but some might say I have a light shade of red naturally. Anyway, when I get highlights, I am extremely strawberry blonde, heavy on the blonde, LOL. I don't dye it though because I don't think it would look right and plus all the chemicals can't be good. Try going and getting blonde highlights in your hair. Get the lightest blonde you can find though because I promise you, it fades. I got my hair highlighted last month and now you can barely tell.

Both bleaching and permanent dyes use chemicals and unfortunately the only way to really lighten your hair is by one of these methods :( You may be able to go a few shades lighter with some semi-perm dyes but nothing drastically different from your current colour i'm afriad. The following link gives some information on bleaching, toning, fading hair etc and might be of some help to you...

Soak your hair in lemonade for a couple of hours. Your hair will lighten on its own and it will probably be a strawberry blonde.

A friend of mine uses Sun In all through the year to achieve the effect you are wanting. Sun In is a spray you can pick up at any Kmart, Walmart etc.

I am sorry but dont do it yourself...been there done that...an experienced hair stylist who specializes in coloring is the perfect and safest choice....take it from a 40 year old mom who tried to cut corners

You can always try the lemon juice and sun treatment. If that doesn't work, I would go to a pro, I wouldn't experiment.

I'm not going to say not to do it.

I'm just going to say that this is a shame.

Redheads are MUCH more attractive than blonds.
