Have to tell them you decline your application. Don't try anything stupid if you get caught you may be in big trouble.
Try again when you get back, they will still be there and will most likely have openings.

Yes any military deployment comes first then as soon as you get back you will be made another appointment to go back in. You really need to go into the police department and explain the situation, and they will help you in any way that they can , who knows they may give you an earlier time to start your testing and you can have some of the requirements done before you have to be deployed again. Good Luck.

One other main difference that you may want to know about is the pay level. Usually the County Sheriff's Department patrols a larger land area, but the population and economic situation is not as good as the cities in that county. Yes they have the same police powers and they also handle most of the civil process service for the courts. In Arkansas, Sheriff's Deputies pay is usually lower than for municipal Police Departments because of the larger tax base within a city. Here deputies don't get paid as well as Police Officers. Just thought you would like to know if you are looking to join a force. If you are looking to get started it is best to get hired somewhere, go through the academy, get certified, and then start looking for a long term career, with good pay and benefits. JMO. Hope this helps.

That's a tuff call. Remember that the police department is like the military itself and as such is unlikely to "bend" or extend any deadlines. However, as the news reported, Indianapolis is very short on police right now and I don't see any problem with reapplying when you get back. My advise is to get prepared for no extension and call them out of respect to let them know what's up and follow their instructions if they won't extend. The process is the same and if you fill out their requirements now, you almost certainly will next application and will very likely get picked again. They won't hold anything against you I don't imagine. :)

You are in luck, ( if you keep your head down ha! ha!), Please,
while your keeping us safe, watch yourself as well, anyway, the
Police departments generally have a policy on military personell
and they're duty status. Make sure and contact them about your
"active duty" status and your desire to test for the position and simply ask them if they can hold a spot for you. If you've had
military police, or O.S.I. training , I'm sure they would hold an app-
-lication for you. You might also try sending them your resume
and attach any qualifications you you might have along with a short summary of why THEY NEED YOU!! and how you feel you could be an asset to their Department. remember!, your qualfications and assets are what counts ..........
GOD BLESS/GOOD LUCK!!!!

police departments do those tests all the time. Miss this one and go to the next one. If you take that test, you can plan on going back to the police department for post tests and interviews, have a clear schedule.

You're probably not out of luck. Write, not e-mail, them explaining your circumstances and ask if you can test when you return.Include a copy of your orders. More than likely they will reply and let you take the test when you return.
[Keep a copy of your letter and their reply for your records]

Get ahold of the PD and let them know what is going on and ask them if at all possible due to your circumstances could they possibly re schedule you when the next group of test begin. Do it now not at the last minute.

With the respect given to the military, I am sure the Dept would extend any deadlines. Just call and ask.
