I have Mcafee installed which automatically checks for viruses & spyware. Also, I have on my desktop, Spybot S&D and Ad-AwareSE which I manually run now and then as an extra precaution. My dad is screaming at me that I need to shut off my Mcafee when I do a manual scan with the other two. I don't know why but he says it is going to cause me big problems. I now have Verizon Fios which is much faster than dial up which could put me in more danger due to the speed.

Mcafee - can't find out how to shutoff temporarily. On 2006's version it had an exit option, etc but this 2007 just doesn't seem to have an exit. I searched all over the home page.

Okay, I found where you can turn off the Mcafee Virus or the Mcafee Firewall. Which do I turn off in order to use another antispyware software. Do I turn all the Mcafee off. I hate to be unprotected while a scan is going on.

When you have Mcafee it is enough. If you need you can try other spywares.I can give a few links that offer free spyware removers...! . Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

really you should shut down mcaffee...and...spybot will delete your adaware log files etc...but I run Norton , Adaware and Spybot too....they all do their jobs a little differently..and all work

just turn off the virus scanner ...don't forget to turn it back on after...
