Okay, I asked a guy to our school's girls-ask-guys dance, and I'm really nervous. I think it's going to be ok, I've talked to the guy about it and he's an absolute sweetie, but I've never done this before and I don't know what I'm supposed to do! Do I buy dinner, since I asked? Am I supposed to get him one of those little buttoniere thingies? Help!

Typically, the person who asked for the date pays for the date, so it is best to expect to pay for dinner. He may want to pay anyway, but you should at least offer once the check comes. If it's a formal dance and you are expecting him to buy you a corsage, a boutonniere would be a nice gesture.

I think that you should offer to pay if he is really a "sweetie" than he will pay. I think that you shouldn't worry about the details and just go hang out and have fun.

Yes, get the flower thing for him. Maybe you can make dinner at your house for him. My friend and I did that once and it was really fun.
