No you can not do this. Firewire has more than two wires in it. RCA cable is only a two wire cable.

Why would you think you could do this?

I don't think you can do that as Firewire is a digital interface while RCA analog.

But if I understand correctly, you're trying to connect a camcorder without a Firewire port to your PC's Firewire port. If that were the case, I would say that what you need is a video bridge instead.

This device takes in the signal from your cam using RCA connectors and outputs it to your PC via USB or Firewire (Depending on which you purchase). There are quite a few out on the market from manufacturers such as Pinnacle and Snazzi, so look around and decide what you need. I have attached a few links for your consideration.

Shows sample of this device from BH NYC. When $400 canopus ADC was on sale 4 yrs. ago & I bought it. The color and sound sync was good. Colors from my precious family VHS came more alive. In fact I do not use PC anymore to convert VHS to DVD. I attach my RCA analog and firewire digital to DVD recoder w/ firewire input!!.
I set the recording to 2 hr mode. and get excellent results.
Then I use PC to do editting and other fancy stuff.
