Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix. Once it starts, there is no effective medical therapy, so appendicitis is considered a medical emergency. When treated promptly, most patients recover without difficulty. If treatment is delayed, the appendix can burst, causing infection and even death. Appendicitis is the most common acute surgical emergency of the abdomen. Anyone can get appendicitis, but it occurs most often between the ages of 10 and 30.

Any age can get appendicitis. It is an infection of a small vestigial appendage which hangs off of the large intestine. It is generally on the lower right side of the abdomen. The pain is usually but no always located there.

Yes. You can get appendicitis at any age, I believe. However, it is definitely NOT a "light" pain and usually is accompanied by symptoms like projectile vomiting. I can't remember what side the appendix is on but you might be able to find out online.

Yes of course, my boyfriend had his appendix out about a month ago, he's 25. I suggest you go to the doc asap, my boyfriend had pains in his right side for 2 days, the doc told him that if he had of left it longer it could have ruptured, and cause death. Good luck, they give you heaps of morphine so you won't feel a thing. They do treat it as emergency service..

I had bad pains when I was 19 and my family delayed taking me into hospital thinking I was being meoldramatic, so it actually burst before I was ready for surgery. I'm fine now and increasingly strong as an ox, so don't worry about it but do go and make sure you're ok.

Best wishes.

Of course they can and it is not to be ignored. If they burst you could lose your life because the poison could go throughout your body. Be smart, have it checked out.
