Are you kidding?? NO!! Americans aren't about to give up their lush lawns and white picket fences for something that can't be defined into one solid issue. This country, like all others, has issues. Most of the issues that plague our nation don't fully affect the majority of the nation enough to strike the "civil war" match. Think about it, most Americans love to complain about the administration but don't really have a plan on how to "clean things up." Don't get me wrong, I agree that we need to "clean things up" too. Most of our politicians are crooked or on a whole higher level (Halliburton-Cheney etc) that are beyond our reach. Makes you wonder if there's a government within our government. The ones that do speak out, end up being investigated, threatened, or end up like Sen. Wellstone (just a theory). But let's face it, at the end of the day...most Americans that complain can wipe their frowns away with a quick wipe of their credit cards. You want to change the dirty ways of our government? Run for an office and don't let it change you before you can change it for the average Joe.

Nothing lasts forever. One day, probably in the distance future, there will be a great social and political upheaval - a reboot - in this country. We can only hope it won't be violent, but given our historical past, it probably will be. One thing, however, is certain. As long as most people in this country are comfortable - have a roof over their heads, food in their bellies, a car, a tv, a few brewskies in the fridge - nothing will happen. When the day finally comes where the middle class has slid into oblivion and the country is divided into the mega rich and the ultra poor, then you will see something happen. Perhaps globalization will speed the process.

Gerald. May I call you, "Gerry"? Gerry, you're hat's on too tight. There's no blood getting to your brain.

You'd like a civil war, huh? OK. So, who would you attack, exactly? Your neighbour? Your local gay bar? Hollywood? Las Vegas?

Would you ask all your like-minded brothers and sisters to go to some specified points to get organized? Would you send out pamplets reading, "Attention! Civil war beginning next Tuesday. Come to your nearest Church at 7:a.m. with guns and sandwiches."

Or would you just run out into the street, screaming, "The time has come! Kill all the Liberals!!" Course... you realize that they would put you in a rubber room at that point, so... I wouldn't advise that approach.

So...how are you gonna get this civil war organised and with sufficient man-power and weaponry to have a snowballs chance of winning? ...I mean, before it's squashed like a bug?

Gerry, let it go. Have some hot chocolate, watch a little television and remember, "Tomorrow is another day".

Edit: I took a look at some of your previous questions. I think you've been playing Devil's Advocate, Gerry. :) Good work!

Excuse me while I contain my laughter at this joke of a statement. Ah ha ha ha?

What were you standing behind George W. when he made that statement in front of a mirror?

The majority of the U.S. versus one evildoer and his minions is no Civil War--more like a legal prosecution by way of our Constitution. The Simian Boy King may have dropped our position in the World court in hopes of avoiding prosecution through International Law, added language to cover his butt for the atrocities in regards to illegally detaining people in the Enemy Combatants act, bought property to escape to in Paraguay, but he'll be before Congress soon enough to face the music. The question is---

Will you still be standing there behind him?

Probably not. Even though the country is polarizing into radical Left & Right wing camps.
Sarcastcally, but probably not too far from reality, all the social welfare recipients on the Left will be too lazy to organize and rebel in any meaningful fashion beyond bitching loud and looting, and by the time the Right wing runs out of power having drained our economy of all foreseable profits, China or Walmart (isn't it really the same thing?) will own most of America, and will crush the smallest hint of rebellion, swiftly without regards to how it would look in the press.

No. The country is doing alright. The only real problem is that our competitiveness has waned. He still work as hard as ever and probably harder. There are more women working now than ever before and we work harder than Europeans, but the world is catching up to us and kicking our *** in some markets. The only real internal problem is that we are nor producing enough scientists and engineers and to compete against the world.

Yeah it is possible. The imputes could be political, it could be along religious conflicts, racial, immigration, taxation without representation. It could be set off by a myriad of reasons.

Three that stand out in my mind are religious, because of the Muslim influence in the US. Immigration because of the laxity of congress regarding the Southern border problems. Politics, because of the liberal posturing of some truly hated wannabes. A good example of this is Hillary Clinton. I truly believe this country will divide if that disgusting pig ever again got near the White House!

There will not be another civil war. The federal government is so much more powerful and technically advanced than it was in the 1860's. It would be able to crush any kind of organized rebellion that threatens them.

I don't think America will actually launch into an official full-scale civil war again. I do, however, think we'll see more violence and terrorist attacks in the near future. War is never good no matter what the purpose, even if it does end up making things better in the end. There's always a peaceful way to solve things even if it's not evident.

I've been saying for a while that the US is on the path towards a civil war. If America was divided geographically as much as it is politically, there would be gunfire off in the background.
