Yes because he wanted others to have life as he has it.
Colossians 1:15 says that Jesus is the first spirit creature ever created. Then by means of him all other things in heaven and earth was created.
Psalms 148:5 God commanded and they were created.
Job 38:7 when all the angles cried out together when the earth was being created. All the angels shouted in applause.
that and many more scriptures shows they were here long before a physical man was thought of.
Humans were born to imperfect parents and all sin and fall short of the glory of god. But angels are perfect and each one is a master piece of design. Remember all the beautiful animals God created for our enjoyment.
But like humans they were given free will to chose what they wanted to do. Some chose the wrong way.

He did. Angels, demons and Satan all were created long before man was ever thought of by anyone but God. Why? Honestly, I believe even though God is well... God, he is still at his most basic level a sentient being, and sentient beings experience loneliness. Being God, with the unlimited power of creation, made creatures to serve, worship and keep him company for all eternity.

Apparently He did. I think that worship is one function they have, but they generally do His bidding. In most of their mentions in scripture, they were sent as messengers. They also make war with the fallen angels. Every great king has had servants that do what they are told - I think that is their primary role.
