I'm an Alaskan with 7 years of experience with cruise tourists. :) Trust me, it is completely unpredictable from year to year. Most Mays it is warm (70s). However, I did have it snow on my birthday one year (my b-day is in May).
This winter is ridiculously snowy, but I've noticed that snowy winters lead to early springs. If you're planning to go this year, it wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
While you're in Anchorage, make sure to try the reindeer sausage (soooo delicious!) and any of the beer from their breweries (ie. Glacier Brewhouse or Moose's Tooth).

The weather is somewhat unpredictable. But the best cruise I had was in the first week of June, so go figure.
My experience has been that when you're close to the glaciers, there's a definite chill in the air. Be sure to pack warm clothing so you can spend as much time as you want out on deck. Alaska is a great cruise. You'll enjoy some of the most awesome scenery on earth.

We went to Alaska, August 14th last year and temps were great, about 75 degrees the whole trip. I would guess the end of May would be very nice. Course, we all know mother nature is unpredictable, so hope for the best. Just being on a cruise to Alaska is so great, even the weather can't stop the fun you will have. Take clothes you can layer so your prepared for whatever happens.
Happy sailing.

Not at all. In fact, that is the best time to go. Alaska is infamous for bad weather and bugs. During the end of May/early June, the ocean is smooth and there aren't bugs. The temperature is about the same as Seattle, but you should make sure you have something warm, too.

Been to A;aska 19 times, 7 in mid May. Average temp is 50. Alight jacket and jeans and you will be all set. If if the weather turns on you there are plenty of places to see the sights from inside with doors near by for picture taking. Lots of wildlife and great nature shots on your trip. Enjoy.

I don't think so. I went to Alaska, in September, and enjoyed the trip. As a suggestion see if you can find the average temperatures, through the computer, for the days that you will be there. I hope that you are including the land trip, as it is well worth seeing.
