your logic is soundly put and there are better ways of achieving a mental state than imaginary spirits and man made false entities.

Simply believing in God isn't a guarantee to heaven, even Satan believes in God, he was created by God.
Sins do matter to God, that is why in the Old Testament, He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, except for Lot and his family. He destroyed the world with water with the exception of Noah and his family. And in the beginning, he cast the devil and his angels out of heaven for being prideful and not willing to serve Him and His creation.
That is why God sent His son Jesus Christ to the world to save those who repent and live a life in accord with the Will of God.
As far as beliefs and morals go, you have to believe that morality is the right choice to practice, so beliefs form the behavior.
It is in the mind or conscience that the belief in something like moral behavior begins, then, it is reinforced by the will, or reason of the person and the result of the belief and the will is the moral behavior.

If a Christian is immoral, it's unlikely that they're really born again, as they do not behave in a way that demonstrates the power of the Holy Spirit over them, and if they are, they've backslidden to some degree or another. As for moral atheists, they go to Hell for one reason and one reason only-- they reject Christ. This is the only sin that can send a person to Hell... no... let me rephrase that. Any sin, no matter how small, sends a person to hell, and the only way to be forgiven of these sins is to accept Christ. If someone never hears of Christ, however-- which is utterly impossible in most, if not all civilized nations-- their sin does not send them to Hell. They go to Heaven by default (for lack of a better word), because you can't reject something that you are never offered. In closing, I'd like to remind you, that no matter how moral you are or claim to be, you have sinned and will sin at some point in your life.

when a person become a Christian he becomes under law.........meaning he is now held accountable for his actions. The morals in the Bible are guidelines to protect their relationship with God.
If a christian is immoral, he loses favour with his God and is like a man without faith.
That's why Jesus said that the road leading to life( the christian way) is narrow and cramped........ The road is hard and difficult but the reward is good, and not all will make it but only those that endure till the end will. No one can say who will or will not be saved, no one can judge but the supreme judge.

The Bible doesn't teach that "immoral" Christians will be saved.
Hebrews 10:26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, (27) but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. (28) Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. (29) How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? (30) For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." (31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
What it does teach is that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory and that if a person turns from their sins and puts their faith in the sacrifice of Jesus as payment for their sins then they will be saved.
As for "very moral" atheists everyone has broken God's laws. An atheist by definition has committed the sin of blasphemy and everyone has told a lie. God doesn't judge people on a curve. It's like going before a judge here on earth and telling him that you are a very moral person, it's just that you just broke the law one time. The judge still has to uphold the law and you have to suffer the penalty for breaking it no matter how good you have been the rest of the time. God has sworn that "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23
The only way to appear before God and not have to pay the penalty for your sin or sins is to accept by faith the payment that He has made by sending Jesus to die in your place.

God requires perfection. The only way to be regarded as perfect and blameless is to trust in God's Son Jesus. As Christian we are not seeking to be "better than others", but to be transformed lives. To be perfectly honest, we all sin on a daily basis. Even believers are not perfect, but are regarded as perfect because of what Jesus has done. I think you see sins on a "sinometer", where murder is worse than lying. All sin is the same thing in God's eyes. Highly moral people, which your obviously are, are a wonderful part of society. Morals impact our beliefs, and there is an inborn sense in each one of us that tells us right from wrong. I am going to pray for you that GOD might reveal himself to you in such a way that you would know without a doubt that all of us "Christians" might not be so crazy...just forgiven

A lot of Christians believe that salvation doesn't depend on acts at all. It is a clear cut: Do you believe in God? Yes/No Do you confess that you're a sinner? Yes/No
etc etc etc
I think the only Christian defense for this reasoning is based on the importance of admitting one's own inadequacy. Getting into heaven based on what sort of good deeds you do isn't enough to make up for the bad ones that you did (they believe everyone is guilty of having done bad things).
Thefore, they think that a person who expects to get to heaven based on their deeds insults God in a way. It is like, they say, that someone gives you a Limo and you, in turn, give them a dime and say "There! We're even!"
I think they believe that the first step is admitting you're not perfect and the SECOND step is striving to be. But they consider the first part the beginning
i.e. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom"

No one gets to Heaven by being good. You can kick and scream all you want, but God has clearly set forth in advance the criteria He will be using when He judges people. He's not going to rewrite these just because humans don't like them.
God said that only absolute sinless perfection is tolerable in Heaven. According to His law, even thinking about committing some sins qualifies as committing them. There is no one who is sinless except Jesus Christ. By accepting what He did on the cross, His perfection is reckoned to my account and my sin is paid for by His blood. It's hard to understand, but we can be fully forgiven. Without that, no one makes it into Heaven because no matter how 'moral' a human is, he or she can't be good enough to satisfy God's perfect and holy law.

How moral do you think a person has to be to get into heaven? That is the problem with morality being the prerequisite to Heaven.
If there's a limit, then there will be people who don't quite make it, and there are people who don't have to be moral anymore.
Now, I'm not too sure about the litmus test concerning belief is, either. I'm actually a Universalist, meaning I believe everyone goes to Heaven.

First of all, I do not hink most Christians feel they are better than a non-beleiver. I do not. I am a sinner and because I came to beleive thru my searching, God revealed Himself to me (wow- what an extraordinary thing... to me! ) I certainly do not feel I deserved His love...and do not feel any better than any other as all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. My heart aches for those who choose not to seek Him ( because it states- Seek with all of your heart and you will find... WILL... not maybe) What is to be understood is how salvation can happen to you and what it is about... and why would God forgive an immoral person....
In the Old Testament people placed their sins on the head of the little lamd or goat before they sacrificed it... upon sacrice per God, there sins were forgiven. Christ was born on this earth for one reason... to die for the sin of all men on the cross... God the Father was born as a man that He could walk beside us , teach us His truths, and die on the cross for sin as the very last and final sacrifice. Lambs or goats no more. When we begin to see this in our heart and soul and beleive this to be truth... then we become saved. We must place all of our sin on the one who died for sin. Every sin we can recall and even those we will commit later. Christians by the way still do sin. I do tho I truly try to live my life by Gods word. More to come...

I understand your rationale here- but there are several factors most people overlook. First of all, God is God. We don't understand the way He thinks. He is the Potter, and we are the clay. He has the right to make what He wants out of the clay. Man didn't exist before God made him. We should be thankful we even got to exist in the first place. The children we have are really not ours- they are gifts given to us- and they are temporary. Each person is responsible for their own actions, their own lives. We as parents cannot help what our child does. We hope for the best. We don't know if our child is going to be a serial killer either. Why would God create someone, knowing he is going to hell? That's a tough question. God knows in advance who will accept Him and who will reject Him. He tells us that only a few find the narrow road to heaven, and there is a wide road to hell, and many take that path. The thing is, God has freely told people how to find that narrow road. It is their choice which way they choose to go. Let me ask your question in a different way. If you knew your child was going to turn down the million dollars you were offering him from the lottery you just won, would you still offer it to him? Of course you would. He still has the choice. You don't want your child to turn away such a gift, but he might. Maybe he'd rather live homeless on the street. You might not like it, or understand it, but you cannot force him to take the million dollars. That's what it is like for God. He offers heaven; He doesn't like it when people turn it down, but He gives them the right to do so. It is not His fault if they choose hell over heaven. God has one main job at the end of time- He must judge everyone for their deeds, good and bad. When we all stand in line, everyone is the same. It doesn't matter if your kid is in the line for hell or not. It is doubtful we will even notice. It is a fearful thing to stand before the living God, who has the power to judge you absolutely fairly. If you haven't taken the free gift He offered, then He has no recourse but to send you away. And He did do everything possible to save us. He sent Jesus. He sends us many messengers who tell us the good news of salvation. And yes, they are called Christians. They're not perfect, but they are trying to do what He told them to do. In fact, the reason Jesus hasn't come back yet is because God is patiently waiting for as many as possible to come to faith. When Jesus comes back, it will be judgment day. If you're not ready, you don't WANT Him to come back.
