NO!!! Like I said...the BREEDER is the ONLY person that can do that!!!!! There is a REASON that this dog was sold on a limited, why don't you call and ASK the breeder. CLEARLY that person had no idea that you intended to breed. That is why the limited is there. I will not sell a pet puppy to ANYONE unless it is on a limited. People will say they only want a pet, and do not want to pay for a show/breeding dog, but later, they change their minds, think they can make some money, and try to breed. BAD idea!!!!!!
If you are set on breeding, get a show/breeding quality dog and go from there.
Some breeder will CHANGE the limited to full registration if they see the dog and deem it a worthy example of the breed. CALL THE BREEDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did you ask this again? The breeder has the right to sell the pup with Full Registration, limited registration or even with no papers. Ask your breeder about this. Did you pay for a pet puppy? Did you pay for a breeding or show quality puppy? There is a reason why breeders sell pups with limited registration. It can only be changed by the breeder. I have changed a small amount over the years, after the dogs have been OFA certified, and been exhibited. Talk to your breeder. There is a $25 charge from the AKC for this, the breeder would have you pay this. Also, did you pay less for this pup? The breeder might want you to pay the difference in price before it is changed. Does your pup have any serious faults? Bad bite, monorchid, ect..? Call the breeder. You can not do this yourself.
Torbaynewfs, the calls come in and you ask if they are looking for a pet, breeding or show. The answer's then are well.... just a pet. Limited registration then!! LOL They don't want to pay for a better pup.

Limited Registration
Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration.
Chapter 3, Section 4A of the AKC's Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline states the following: "Limited Registration may be requested for a dog when application for individual registration of the dog is submitted, provided the application, together with a request for such limitation, is filed by the owner(s) of the litter at birth.
No offspring of a dog for which Limited Registration has been granted is eligible for registration. Each registration certificate for such dog shall carry notice of the limitation, and the limitation shall continue, regardless of any change of ownership, unless and until the owner(s) of the litter at birth shall apply to AKC for removal of the limitation."
A dog registered with an AKC Limited Registration shall be ineligible to be entered in a breed competition in a licensed or member dog show. It is eligible, however, to be entered in any other licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility and Earthdog.
Limited Registration is determined by the litter owner(s). The litter owner(s) check the Limited box on the AKC Dog Registration Application.
Limited Registration certificates are white with an orange border; the Full Registration certificate is white with a purple border.
Limited Registration can be changed to Full Registration only by the litter owner(s). The litter owner(s) will need to obtain the Application to Revoke Limited Status. That form will then need to be completed and sent to our Raleigh address with the processing fee. After processing, we will send a Full Registration certificate to the dog's owner.
Limited Registration helps breeders protect their breeding programs. If breeders do not want puppies used for breeding purposes, they can request the Limited Registration option for those puppies.

Not really, the breeder determined whether or not it was a limited registration before he sold it to you.
It should have been in your contract---read through the contract and you may even find a spay/neuter clause. Lots of good breeders who sell limited registrations also put spay/neuter in the contract.
Call the breeder and ask if you have questions. The dog probably does not meet the breed standard in some way. It can still be a lovely dog, just not the breed's ideal.

If your dog has a limited AKC registration, as you state in your previous post, this is because of the breeder's choice. You probably have a pet quality dog that does not need full registration. *You* cannot change this.
You would need to contact the original breeder and ask them why the registration is limited. If you feel that your dog is showing or breeding quality, and this is why you want a full registration, make your case to them. If they don't agree, then there is nothing you can do. Fix your dog and have a wonderful pet. : )

The breeder where you got your dog will have to change it:
Limited Registration
Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration.

The American Kennel Club does not license or endorse anyone engaged in the commerce of selling purebred dogs and, therefore, has no control over the business practices of those involved in such transactions. Membership in the American Kennel Club is comprised of independent dog clubs located throughout the United States. No individual persons are members of the AKC.
The AKC will not become involved in disputes concerning 'full' or 'limited' registration of a dog. These disputes must be resolved by the parties involved in the sale of the dog. The only exception to this is in cases where there is a contract, signed by all parties involved and made at the time of the dog sale, that stipulates the registration status. In those cases, AKC will initiate an inquiry on the matter.

Litter is eligible for registration if:
It is the result of a mating between an AKC-registered Sire (male) and an AKC-registered Dam (female) of the same breed.
It is whelped (born) in the U.S.A, its possession or territories (Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Marianna Islands).
To register a litter, the litter owner should complete an an AKC Litter Registration Application . The application requires basic information such as the date of birth, number of males and females born, and the registered names and numbers of the sire and dam. The application must be signed by all of the owners and co-owners of the dam and by one owner of the sire. Failure to complete the application properly will result in processing delays.

Thank God No!!!!!!! Didn't you research prior to purchasing this pup. No only the breeder can do that. You have a limited pup which means it is not breeding quality. This is one of the reasons we tell people to RESEARCH before you buy. I sure hope you didn't buy this dog for breeding and now want nothing to do with it because it cant. This is a pet only. You can compete with it but not breed it.
