What kind of chew toy can I get him that won't break he is tearing up my rose bushes this beast I mean he ate it all the way down to almost the roots and he has food and space to run but he keeps tearing them up, I got several toys for him but it's never enough to occupy him for long and he starts attacking them again, oooh he gets on my nerves. Oh and do you know where I can find a good collar he keeps busting them on the leash cause they usually click with a plastic gadget that clicks it on I think I need metal clicky things.... I hope you can understand what I'm asking cause I ramble sometimes, ok Thanks

I take him for walks twice a day, and my three kids play with him. I mean we come home after our walks were he's practically dragging me around our neighborhood and he's tired then 20 min. later he's up to his old tricks, my yard looks like a grave yard for bones, he's also digging.

he is probably just lonesome. i think he needs more attention.you see its not the toy he wants its the attention he wants.when he is bored he will get destructive and tear stuff up if there is nothing to tear up he will start to dig.trust me i know this stuff, my dog did the same thing exept with our trampoline.and my mom made me pay for a new one because it was my dog that tore it up and i wasnt giving him enough attention.for a toy i suggest a kong, they are indestructible and good quality you can get them at Petsmart.and for the collar i suggest you go to Petsmart for that too, they are very good quality also,my dog's collar we got at at Petsmart hasnt gotten damaged once.(yet its a little dirty)

-good luck!Nadia A.

Go to a pet store like Petsmart or Petco they have what you need for your dog. They do actually have something that will keep him away from wherever you spray this product which is safe for plants and grass. Also sounds that he can have 100 chew toys but I think the reason he is doing this is because he has so much build up energy. Do you walk him everyday? If not try a treadmill 30-45 mins a day minimum. If you don't have that either try buying him (at the pet store) a Kong which you can put some treats or even peanut butter and its an item that makes them work for the treat that can help burn his energy. Remember you chose to be a dog owner so you took upon the responsibility to be a good one which means exercise your dog if you don't it will only get worse. Good luck and I hope this helps you and your dog.

I would suggest a KONG for a toy. You can get it at most Pet Supply stores like PetSmart. I have a German Shepard and he loves his. Get the large or giant one. They are made to be filled with treats to keep them occupied. You can even fill it with Peanut Butter (sugar-free is best for them) and it will keep him occupied. It is made of very hard plastic and good to chew. GSD are very active and high energy. If he is being destructive, he is bored. He should be walked daily for long walks. He probably needs a metal choke collar. They will not break. Good Luck!

Ok, you said he's not even a year old, but how old are you? Look, you're gonna need a spacious back yard where you can stretch a cable for a run. Then you attach your dog's leash (make your own from sturdy bent-wire chain) to the run. Make sure he can run BUT can't get tangled anywhere. The run should be about 25 ft. long and up off the ground 7ft. so you don't tear your head off by accident. At one end put a dog-house. The other end will be his "poop" dept. Nothing will grow under him so forget trying to grow stuff where he runs. My GS, Teddy lived a long time and was a great friend for many years. Invest some time, not a lot of money, and a lot of love. Joe

I agree with the "Kong", it is by far the best toy out there, they can chew on it if you put treats or PB in it, it bounces and is great fun for fetching, plus it is practically undestructible.
As far as the collar goes I would recommend a leather or Nylon doublestitched wide collar.
The best selection you would probably find at a farm supply store or Co-op. The Kong you will find at Pet Smart etc.

Attention, attention, attention! Young dogs especially (all dogs though) love attention. dogs that are being destructive usually are dying for your attention. So play and interact with your dog as much as possible. Even just a 10 minute game of catch will help. Does he have a fenced yard to run in? That is really important. If he's just tied to a long chain, he is probably too restricted. Good luck!

A dog is a live animal with feelings; a plant is a plant; they come and go ; he has all the things but he doesn't have you; he needs training, proper exercise and stimulation or he will make his own fun just like an unsupervised child would; he can sense your mood and that isn't helping by showing that you are out of control; you can't lead as is - does he like to retrieve? fetch? go for a walk with you? guess he senses to fix the object that has your attention; back to square one; new day ; forget the past ; it is over ; spend time , training , attention; a well behaved dog has a good trainer, You? I use everlasting treat balls but treats and toys aren't replacement for you , your time, training, patience and love - he is your pet isn't he?

I got mine several of those cute little toys that make noises... some approved by the AKC. Dangerous! They pull the squeaker out and almost choke on it. So, I quit getting those. Try rawhide. Or, call 18007679055 and see what he has to offer. I was given that number by a trainer. He has all kinds of collars and stuff.

I have a female German Shepherd and her favorite toy is a big towel with knots tied in it. She also love to play with a regular household plastic bucket. I have bought 5 so far and she is just over a year. They are only a $1 at wal-mart.

Get those HUGE rawhide chews, mine also like to chew on my firewood.

Buy him a collar with a metal buckle. Do not buy the plastic click collars. http://www.upco.com

Also get him a Kong and put peanut butter in it. That will occupy him for awhile.

Spray bitter apple on everything you don't want him to chew on.
