no you do not have to pay it now, ok lets say the quote you get is for 1800.00 the insurance will deduct the deductible out of that check they send you, so you may want to give them the highest quote then shop around for a better price having it fixed.
good luck

Most shop required the deductible to be paid after the repairs to a vehicle is complete before the vehicle can be picked up. The insurance company will most like write you a check that the shop will require to have paid to them before they will release the vehicle to after the repairs are finished as well. You can just endorse that check over to the shop in most cases. So if you repair was $1500.00 after your vehicle was completed you would pay $500 deductible and $1000 insurance company to the shop.

The deductible means just that -- it is the amount DEDUCTED from the insurance payment. If repairs to your pony are less than $500.00 you will have to pay the entire bill. If repairs are $1,500.00, you will pay $500.00 and your insurance company will either pay the remainder of repair costs to you or the repairer. It's up to you if you want to pay the shop before they start repairs (though I would wait after repairs were COMPLETE before they got my money!). Just treat this like any other repair, pay when the work is completed and to your satisfaction.

You'll pay the deductible to the repair shop when you pick up your car after it's repaired. It will be up to the shop to extend credit or not for the charge.

It depends on your jurisdiction, but normally you pay it to the repair shop when you pick the car up. Very rarely can you pay it after you pick it up, unless the shop offers short-term deductible financing.

I depends entirely on the policy of the shop that is doing the repairs. They will tell you if they want it immediately, or upon picking up the car. Just ask.

In general, the deductible is paid when you pick up the car after it's been fixed.

Normally you have to pay it according to the repair shop's billing policy. Most of the time it is upfront. If you got the info of the other car be sure to include that in your claim. It is considered a 'phantom vehicle' in most states. Be sure to work with your agent.
