My daughter had a homework assignment tonight that really made me think about things. She has to ask 5 people if they think their life is controlled by fate or by choice. That is a tricky question. I believe in God and he has planned my life out before I was even created, but I know the choices I make predict the outcome of my life. So, if my life is already planned out, why does He allow me choices? The only thing I can figure is He knew the choices I would make before I made them and then He planned my life accordingly. That's only logical. Anyway, ya'll give me some feedback. What do you think....fate or choice?

Fate - the plan He does have for each of us.

Choice - what we did with the things He has made available to us ..... ex: smoking or caring for your body, abusing your body thru your mouth and actions or doing what brings honor to Him, lifestyle - according to or non-according to His will/plan.

He does have a plan and does desire the best for us but loves us enough to give us freewill of choice.

That is what we will all do - answer for what we did with our lives, our choices in our lives and what we did with His Son - accept/reject.

Interesting how now - the school system would come up with subject such as this.
Watch em carefully!

God bless!

Choice would get better rate over fate from me. My life I have to live. here Independence is the right word, I believe. Fate is nothing but coincidence of situation going against or in favor of us. Often it happens that the choice we made became wrong later. In these situations we have to accept those with positive mind, because the decision we took at that time was the best to our calculation.

The reason he allows you a choice is b/c he gave you free will.

He wants you to love him, not make you. He loves us so much he gave his son. Otherwise we were doomed to our fate b/c of sin . . . the original sin.

He has a path for your life, every time you stray from that path you are then given a trial. That trial sometimes creates many different mini paths on the path. Think of it like a maze, there is one way to get to the end. Many times you turn the wrong way and go back. Thank the Lord even in trials as all he is trying to do is get you back on your path.

Free will is the hardest concept b/c your life is planned out . . . .but are you following your path?

God Bless

I agree with you, except that if we have free will and have choices then how does God know for sure what our choice will be? On the other hand He knows us because He gave us our DNA and knows how many hairs we have on our heads. I think God has a plan A, a plan B but really never has to use them because He is a good judge of character, especially since He's the one who develops character in us, by allowing us to make choices. As long as we are living according to His will, we are living according to His plan and purpose.

My take on it is this. I have a brain. My brain controls what I do, say, etc., that is, my actions, and my emotions. It makes decisions based upon many, many factor, such as chemicals, hormones, conditioning, response to stimuli, etc. My brain is a product of evolution and the genetics of my parents, grandparents, etc. Since everything depends upon the brain, it is there that what I perceive to be "choices" are made. Everything that has happened since my conception has affected my brain, and what I will do. I do not believe in free will or fate. I believe that my life consists of acting, and reacting, but there is little "choice" involved because I don't control my brain, my brain controls everything else.

I think the answer is a little more complex. God has a "plan" for us, yes, but within that plan, we have choice. Ultimately He knows which choices we will make before we ever make them, but that does not eliminate our freedom to make those choices. It's not like God is holding a clipboard up there that says, "okay now she turns right, now she bends down and picks up that pencil, now she opens a door"...it's not like that. It is a mystery how God can be soverign and yet we have free will; but both things are true.

I think each of us has a choice and that determines your fate. Only God can see the hearts and He knows what we think and feel before we even do. I believe God knows which decision we are going to make.

A little of both. Some things you can control, and some things you can't. That's the difference in fate and choice.

I am a male to female crossdresser. I feel I have no choice in the matter. I used to hate myself for it. The only answere was to accept it. Now I can truely enjoy my life when I could not before. I would have not chosen to be a crossdresser. I am a guy who likes women a bit too much perhaps.
