That is, they don't answer what I asked but give an answer that steps over or around the point I was addressing? Could it be because they know they can't answer it truthfully without admitting I'm right...?

Only God has all the answers. Simple.

This is a very vague question you are asking here. What was your original question? I try to answer genuine questions, questions that have merit. If you are asking a question that is intended to be offensive or insulting, or is aimed at tearing down what we believe in, that might answer this question. I can't speak for everyone else, but I try to give honest answers. Now an honest answer may not be what you are looking for. I know that there are a lot of loaded questions on here, and I tend to overlook them for that reason. If you are choosing a position of opposition to the Bible, and what we believe in general (ie God, Jesus Christ, creation, etc.) and you are seeking to be antagonistic with your questions, I can tell you that you are wrong.

Perhaps you only hear what you expect to hear. Truth is somewhat relative when it comes to the Bible, so if you do not understand the complexities then you will only hear evasion.

Then, again if we put knowledge in perspective, most of us drive a car, yet cannot recite with any accuracy at all the various traffic law offenses that we could get charged by the police.

Does that mean we shouldn't drive, or that we should restrict asking for advice to someone who is trained in a more diligent way and is more likely to know the answer...

In most cases, they don't know what they haven't been TOLD. Anything that challenges that is a mystery to them.
Most people don't take religion beyond their Preacher or Priest.
They've been told what to believe, and when that belief is questioned, they have no foundation by which to defend it. In this century and the last, the bible has become an ornament, nothing more than a badge to show what team you're on.

I think the reason is because most of the questions asked in the R/S section are more like insults and challenges.

Like I said before, R/S is like a game of dodgeball. We throw questions at each other, then we either dodge the question, or try to catch it.

Yee hah! I gotta go and answer that question about Noah's Ark!

I think Christians answer questions correctly and quickly, and many have good answers, and get to the matter with no doubt, and address the heart of the question.. the problem is you, you will never accept an answer from a Christian to be correct, Right

May be because they are tire about repeating question that drive no where, Why don't you read it for your self. Perhaps there is no use to answer a question when the questioner have already made up his/her mind, because what ever is told to the questioner the other people will be wrong because the questioner isn't looking from an objective point of view. That doesn't mean that you postulates are right, it means that you can't analyze points of view that don't match with yours, reducing your range of appreciation.

They are not focused. They begin to answer and drift off

I know im guilty of the very same thing so I have to force myself to be brief and to the point and work my way back as quickly and effectively as i can.

There is some pride and Ego involved Even in church leadership and how that many translations of the scriptures are changed to subdue vital questions about specific words in their scriptures that invite contention and debate.
I dont think it as you are right and they are always wrong, i think it is mostly about being focused and the ability to SEE the question and understand the purpose of the answer.

Without seeing the question and answers I really can't say. I answer questions in this section often and would be glad to help with any question you have concerning the Bible provided you are seeking the truth. If you are asking a question and it is clear you are mocking many Christians follow what Christ taught concerning casting pearls before swine and giving to dogs that which is holy. Most Chritians feel happy to help those seeking the truth it is the great comission of Christ.

Your modesty overwhelms me. You need to post particulars - anyone can say what you're saying never having asked a Bible question in their life. That's the nice thing about the Internet, one can make up the biggest stories to prove a point. And I'm sure all Christians are scared to death to answer you because they recognize that massive intellect before they ever open their mouths.

They probably don't always know the answer at that exact moment. There have been lots of things I have learned as a christian, and all those 'answers' are not on the tip of my tongue. I wish they were! It does not necessarily mean you are right though, because they don't have an answer. That is at the very least, faulty logic on your part. I do think though, many need to be more up front and honest enough to say, "I don't know", when they really do. It can be a great motivator to remind yourself, or do further searching.
