Each department has its own test. The website for your PD will likely outline any physical agility test.

Generally, they will do pushup, sit ups, a 1 to 1.5 mile run. Also, there will be an obstace course of some sort. Running up and down some stairs, over a fence, under something, and other sorts of things you would imagine in a police foot chase. At the end of most, there is a dummy, weighing usually around 160 pounds that you will have to drag a certain distance. All this is done for time.

Also, you will likely have to hold the barrel of a sidearm and shotgun in a 4" ring, dry fire it so many times keeping the barrel from touching the ring in a certain amount of time.

That is all I can remember from the one I did. Most tend to follow that same outline, but vary in the specific obstacles.

No drug test until physical. No physical unless yo do well enough on written. My county also no drug test until after physical agility tests. Now my county asks about past use. Past use in my county for more than a few months is not considered experimentation. Even if experimentation they expect all use needed at least 3 years ago. Your answers to the questions are confirmed via polygraph and during background check. Test before hiring is hair. Minimum of 90 days if head hair. I always like it when dopers think they can get away with a test by shaving their head. Other hair, chest, pits, pubic wherever else on the body are good for testing for up to 6 months.
