i used to live in Laie that is about 10 miles from there - here are a few suggestions:
go to Waimaea Bay on the north shore - if it is big surf there are usually amazing surf competitions there - if the surf is low this is one of the best beaches on the island.
go to the Polynesian Cultural center - do the whole day there - you will learn lots about the culture of Hawaii and the other Polynesian islands (tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, etc) the luau is great and the night show is amazing!
Spend a day in Honolulu - go to Pearl Harbor, shop the International market place, walk down Waikiki at evening.
otherwise - kick back and relax - enjoy a day just sitting by the ocean and soaking up the sun.

You are in the perfect location because Turtle Bay Resort is located near the North Shore. Check out Waimea Bay (and many great beaches but be careful of warnings and currents if going in), go to nearby Haleiwa town (place to go if you are interested in ocean recreation and don't forget to stop at Matsumoto's for some shave ice), maybe go to Wahiawa to check out the Dole Plantation and watch the sunset at Sunset Beach.
Polynesian Cultural Center is also another great attraction if you are interested in learning about different Pacific Island cultures but I'd recommend you do the full day including the dinner and the night show. If you are into historic sites, stop by the Arizona Memorial and Battleship Missouri. Renting a car, definitely take a trip around the island and explore.
If you have some extra time (and money), I highly recommend taking a trip to the outer island. Each island offers something unique. My recommendation would definitely be the Big Island. It’s very laid back, lots of natural beauty and the home of Kilauea, an active volcano that has been erupting continuously since January 3, 1983.

You could go to the Manoa Waterfalls up the road, or take a trip to the North Shore. Oahu Nature Tours do both and the tours are pretty personalised as well. (snaps for the company, totally excellent at their job)
Go on a sunset cruise (the Mai Tai was good - free drinks during the cruise as well!)
Kualoa Ranch is a bit of a drive away but great fun if you're with a family. I was travelling on my own so it was ok but the views were beautiful so it was still worth it. (You can go horse riding and see where Lost is, and Jurassic Park was, filmed or take a four wheeled open truck drive, among other things)
The Arizona Memorial is pretty good - get there early though, the queues are SUPER long
You could always visit the other island for a day, some companies do that too.
All else fails go shopping at AlaMoana Shopping Centre.

First check out the local news paper for up to date activity list
1. Snorkel at Hanuma bay, $ 5 for admission and great snorkel place. You will love it
2. Para sailing: Book it ahead if you are going in peak season
3. Surf in ocean and attend beach parties.
4. Whale watch and Dolphin watch
5. Take a dinner cruise and watch the traditional shows and dance Hula.
6. You can do for fishing and whale watch on the same boat. Some boats buy your fish too.
7. Watch Amazing shows, performed by local artists.
8. Go to the Polynesian center and buy some pearls.
9. Taste amazing seafood at local restaurants
10. Golf
11. Good Night life at Waikiki. Shop and Dine too
Oahu is the best place to do lot of activities, But if you want to see Volcano go to the Big Island. The round trip airline tickets are very cheap. $29 One way. and even you can get helicopter rides from Oahu for a very reasonable price. (Cheaper than when compared to Big island prices itself). Also you can book lot of activities once you go there. For some activities you are paying more when you book on line.
ALSO Don't fall in trap with Time share people. They are everywhere. Get clear information when they promise something. make sure they booked the activities for you for sure. many time, they will call the activity location but will not book for you.

You absolutely CANNOT miss Hanauma Bay!
Go on a weekday and very early in the morning- at the beginning of your trip is best because you'll be able to wake up early without a problem and you'll be able to go back again!
It's a half-collapsed volcano with an AMAZING coral reef growing inside of it. It's perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and seeing some amazing amazing wildlife.
While you're there, if it's not closed off, take a long stroll down the left side of the beach to the Toilet Bowl. It's a giant sunken hole in the lava where water literally rushed in and fills it upw ith each wave, and then dumps back out. You can jump in and have an amazing time. Not recommended for poor swimmers, but my brothers and I went in without a problem at ages 15, 13, and 11 and my youngest brother is a terribly weak swimmer.
When you head out there, bring your snorkel and fins! Half way back to the beach, jump in and swim back! You'll be able to navigate your way through the coral and see some amazing things. Again, not for very weak swimmers, but an amazing experience.
As mentioned above, be sure to check out the cultural center and see the Samoan chief's cooking show! Stay for the luau dinner- the poi rolls are amazing and well worth the money.
The dole plantation is a lot of fun for a morning or afternoon if you wanted to check out the North Shore.
I also highly recommend Sandy Beach for strong swimmers. There is a VERY strong riptide at times, but you can see some amazing surfing and check out the blowhole if you look to the right and then check it out later. Also, when you're at Sandy Beach, look for whales!!! I've seen them many many times!
For a more relaxing day at the beach, I suggest Waimanalo. Crystal waters and almost no waves. What's better?
Have an amazing time! All of these places can be researched in any book or on Google.
PS Before you buy ANY souvenirs, check out the flea market at Aloha Stadium! There are two COMPLETE circles around the ENTIRE stadium full of all the stuff you'll buy in stores for maybe 30% of the price!

Well you are going to be close to the Polynesian Cultural Centre on the north shore of Oahu so I would recommend that during your stay no matter what else you do.
They do a really great job of recreating the cultures of the people of the Pacific Islands.
