I go to all women's college and have been ambush by several relgious people trying to "save" us from being feminsts. I sort of a feminists, but I don't understand what's the beef between feminists and christianity? Pat Robertson even put part of the blame for the 9-11 attacks on feminists. Can anyone explain this to me?

Don't get me wrong, I believe that Pat Robertson is also a nutjob, I just didn't really understand fully why some christians are aganist feminists. I thought about abortion and other issues, but I know many feminsts who are aganist abortion, so I thought that it might be something else.

Men are afraid of our power. That's all. :) Just brush 'em off. No sense telling them off, there'll always be more. Let's face it - men are stupid. Let them think whatever the hell they want.

Don't listen to Pat Robertson. Everything I've heard from him is freakish and sick. I used to be at least somewhat feminist. I am not now. Christianity in no way degrades women. Everyone pulls out that verse about wives submit to your husbands, but they don't tell you about the next part of that statement. Husbands are told to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and laid down His life for her. The husband has to lay down his own desires and serve his wife, make his choiced based on what is best for her. I don't see that as a bad thing at all.
God holds women in honor. He has set a system where the husband or father has a place of authority in the family, but the woman has complete equality in the partnership. God just laid it out so there isn't a constant squabble over who gets the final word. Both partners have a say, and if the man is doing his job, he'll make a decision that is acceptable to all.
The "beef" with feminism is that it has caused women to rise up and take the role that was designated for men, and so, the men have just slacked off and let the women take over. We have very few manly men left. Men have become immature little boys for the most part. I know some men who have taken their duty seriously and they are a joy to be around. I like to be treated with respect and honored they way they do it. It's so rare, and so refreshing to see. I enjoy being treated as a lady. It's a new thing to me. I feel safe and loved.

God likes women too and He proved it by making us too. People get so bent out of shape by what they perceive as sin that they miss the point. The point is God loves you and was willing to suffer horribly to prove it and desperately wants a relationship with you. Politics are not His forte. He likes dealing with people in private and changing the world by changing one person at a time. Pat seems to think that God has appointed Him to point out character flaws in people. I'm not sure thinking that women are to have equal choices and equal opportunities is a sin. I think so too. When the pope and Constantine decided to make Mary Magdalene a prostitute I don't think God had much to do with it. The point is if our men treated us with the respect and love God commands then there would be no need for feminism. The reason they attacked on 9/11 is the same as it ever was misguided hate.

Get a book by ed silvoso, a Christian author. called "Women-God's secret weapon-" he talks about how Adam did not train his wife right and stood next to her while she ate the fruit, how, Noah sinned when God commanded him to take his Wife first off of the Ark and he didn't he let his Son's go first. It explains why Paul says the womenwere not allowwed to teach in church because they were never allowed to go to church and school and they cannot not teach what they wer never taught and how men in this day and age, tell educated woment hey still cannot preach, ect. It might make you feel a little better about being in a male Pastored society.

They're all on crack...that's why. Christianity is the only religion that I know of that doesn't celebrate the feminine principle of God. And yes, Christianity and the Bible was written, edited, interpreted by MEN. Ya know that story of the adulterer and the men throwing stones at her and Jesus said...he who has not sinned may cast the first stone...yadda, yadda, yadda. Did the married man ever get any repercussion from cheating on his wife? Does the Bible ever mention what happened to him? Uh...no. What does that tell you?

They are afraid of women gaining further power and equality. Look at all the cultures that put women as being less then men... Sadly some people still have that mind set, and I feel for the women who actually think that is a good thing.

First off, stop listening to Pat Robertson. He's a nutbar.
Some people equate feminism with abortion and divorce and all that stuff, hence their opposition to it.

I am a Christian and in my circle, all women are equal to all men. Women ministers and teachers are awesomely annointed and are very good. The Baptists, Church of Christ and some of those circles are against those things however. So not all Christians! PEACE!!!

Many people just can't get past the notion that women should be barefoot and pregnant and that's their only use and purpose in life. Also, many people are just assholes.

Because Christianity states that women are to adhere to their men....
Now why would they want that?
Sad, isn't it?
