It would be a mistake since the Iraqi government can't get control of all the different religious groups and keeps compromising with them.
If we did pull out now,it would definitely send the country into civil war and cause us to become even more unpopular in the eyes of the world. Like it or not we have to finish what we started.
A lot of people think we should leave because the death toll (at about 3,000 troops) is too high. This is less than the number killed in Viet-Nam in a month or two, less than those killed during WW2 or Korea in the 50's.

Don't look now, but the President's strategy has begun to work. Much of the recent violence has been between Shia and Sunni factions jostling for power in the government, and only any anti-American sentiments are only secondary. The anti-American Shia M. al Sadr has agreed to a cease-fire and may join the government if power-sharing agreements and guarantees against sectarian disadvantages can be worked out. If that happens, the President's strategy will have worked and we can get on with the business of the War on Terror.

To leave Iraq wouded and bleeding wouldn't serve Iraq or the United States.
In fact it will probably ensure that sometime in the near future we will be back!
I understand most Americans are frustrated and want our troops to come home but...
Since we invaded that country we owe it to the honorable men and women of our military who so bravely lost their lives to finish what we started and make their sacrifice justifiable.
We need to stop the politicing and let them do their job!

Secure the borders and stop the insurgents from infiltrating any further. Unfortunately that IS going to require more troops!!
I don't understand why that wasn't the first order of business in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn!!! If you are going to do a job DO IT RIGHT!!!
If we leave before the Iraqi administration can develop and train their own police and military we will be back!! Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait and others have their own agendas in the future of Iraq.
I often wonder....What EXACTLY was the exist strategy in Iraq to begin with?

This tough question has a tough answer....

No nation or economy can survive alone & has to interact with countries outside its boundaries.

As a nation, we through, our leaders take good as well as bad decisions. While we do never get excited with good decisions, we raise hell for bad decisions & Iraq is one of them.

Now we are like a doctor, who has opened the stomach of a patient & can only leave after stabilizing the patient. If we leave Iraq NOW...... We will have to deal with a HUGE population of terrorists from Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan. Please see the map & you will realize the magnitude of the problem.

Therefor, unfortunately we will have to pay a big price for this wrong strategy.

Remember all these people in Muslim countries are not bad . Their system is producing terror.

USA can not isolate itself like Lou Dobbs wants

In a Lou Dobbs world, USA does not have to

Have any diplomatic relations with China, Mexico, Half of Latin America etc.

Import foreign oil

Wal Mart sells only Made in USA goods

Borrow 60% of global savings

Kick out all the immigrants & hire Americans in all Farm , janitorial & low wage jobs

Is it possible to isolate ourselves???????

NO ( unless you want to make everything 5 times more expensive)

The solution is........ Political situation has a Political answer

..................Economic solution has an Economic answer

.................Military problem has a Military solution

....... Problem & solutions should not be mixed........

Iraq , Palestine , North Korea are political problems......

We all have to identify the problems correctly & solutions will follow ( they will take a long time, provided we follow the path of TRUTH )

Wether the USA or anyone else is there doesn't really matter.
They hate each other. Two religious extremists are fighting.
Hate runs deep over there between Lebannon and Isreal and Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey. Africa is being torn apart by those religious extremists. Get rid of religion is the only solution.
And I think you know which one. But can't say on here I get violations.

I think everyone has forgotten something very important.

America did put Saddam in power to prevent Iran invading Iraq.

With Saddam gone... and Iraq without an army... if America leaves... Iran will walk right in and capture Iraq.
After all... the rebels fighting our soldiers are working for the Iranians... and it is Iran which provides their arms.

All of the terrorists lurking in the countryside would attempt to take over and continue Saddam's reign of terror.

I do.

If we just leave the insurgents will take over and we will have wasted our time. We have to at least give them a shot at succeeding.
