perhaps because it didnt REALLY happen?
where#s the geological evidence for such a great flood existing? Never mind, all the insects, the animals, everything we have existing on the planet today fitting into an ark that took some guy, prolly in his 20's-40's to start with 120 years to build....considering that the average life-span today is a lot more than at those times, thanks to discoveries of vaccines, medicines etc, to prolong life
seems a bit far-fetched to me
also, if there were only TWO of each animal, how did Noah stop one animal from eating the other? Cos, from what I've learned, animals started eating the meat of other animals after the fall, or the garden of Eden incident
so HOW?
how did the millions of various speceis fit onto one boat, and how did they survive
personally, I think this is one story that is taken far too literaly!

Thank you for the opportunity to clear up some frequent mis-understandings.
The opening chapters of the Bible are a pre-history to set the stage for the FAITH which begins in ch. 12 w/ Abram. The material is derived from material in the civilization of the Hurrians and earlier. Hurrians lived in Ur where Abraham grew up. Their Gilgalmesh Epic holds much of the Bible's creation/noahic story.
The authors were reflecting the understanding of that time. If you read carefully, there is no mention that only Eden existed or that A & E had exclusive reproductive rights.

The entire book of Genesis has long been acknowledged as a compilation of many creation myths. The Bible is a guide to spirituality not a literal or scientific guide as to how the world works. Science complements faith if one realizes that science can't explain everything. The fact that science is based on our best guesses as to how things work helps one come to that realization. Some of our guesses we are pretty sure about, like the atomic weight of hydrogen, while some, like the cause of the big bang may never be conclusively resolved. There is room for faith in something larger than ourselves which is missing in society today and leads to the formation of a more selfish individual who is ultimately the worse off.

Wrong--we are all cousins anyway. Back when the human race was closer to perfection, marrying close family members wouldn't have caused genetic deformations and retardation. When it was about to become problematic, God made it a sin and tried to protect his followers from the ill effects.

Because Noah had 3 sons, each of them with wives, they were Sem, Cam and Jafeth, from them is that all the rest of humans came from. if you want to read it is in Genesis, even in Genesis is told all the descendants that came from every and each son of Noah.

Noah's sons and daughters brought wives and husbands and then for a while I guess they married cousins.

I believe that Noah not only brought 2 of all of the animals, but brought his whole family (probably an even # so they could go in pairs).
