When you align your will with God's, it most certainly does.

Why do you think that it doesn't?
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
It’s clear that this is a test of the intent of our hearts concerning things that will glorify the Father and asked out of love.

it must (the prayer) be in the framework of God's Will.
When he taught the model prayer at Matthew 6:9-13 he broke down things for us:
“YOU must pray, then, this way:
“‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. 11 Give us today our bread for this day; and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’"

Most people, except for a handfull even care about the first 3!!
James says it best here:
"YOU do not have because of YOUR not asking. 3 YOU do ask, and yet YOU do not receive, because YOU are asking for a wrong purpose, that YOU may expend [it] upon YOUR cravings for sensual pleasure." -James 4:2-3

This is a mis-translation. In the original Aramaic, the word before the phrase "in my name" is really "bupkus." I have no idea how these meshuganna scholars keep getting it wrong. But I should tell you, bupkus is not a lot. So that verse should probably say, "If you don't ask for much, then maybe, if I got time, I'll look into it, Mister Always-Asking- For-Favors."

The context is in the whole counsel of God's word.
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. (15) And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
When you ask for something in "Jesus' name" you are supposed to be asking for something that He would will to take place.

the book of John was written by mary magnelene so I would tend to believe it more the the synoptic Gospels - it would be wonderful yes but unfoirtuantely much of the bible is beyond it litterall wording maybe you should consider the concept more deeply

sub clauses declare that it has to be Righteousness. and it has to be with understanding of what the will of God is.
the downside is if you ask for something and God doesnt want to give it but if you are persistent, he may yet give what you ask for and then have to live with the consequences.
