The most wonderful thing about the Book of Ruth is that God chose a Moabitess for the linage of Jesus. This book tells us of the great love Ruth had for her mother-in law Naomi and the great love that developed between Ruth and Boaz.

It was showing the type of kinsman redeemer that Jesus would become. Boaz was the deliverer in that book. Ruth was as the church, faithful, needing deliverance.
The reason why God came down as Jesus was to become the Kinsman Redeemer. As it says throughout the Old Testament, God is our Deliverer. It's theme rings true for any who take the time to undertand it, as long as God wills it.
When Jesus talked about the scritpures revealing Him in the Gospel of John, He was referring to passages like those found in the Book of Ruth. Not that it is exclusive the the Book of Ruth, for there are so many types of Christ in the Old Testament. People just have to look for them, but they do not need to look very hard!

I always found that book fascinating because it's the only book in the bible that doesn't mention God. It's a great story of finding love.

Wonderful story. Teaches about loyalty, selflessness, romantic and willingness. Above all, she is the predecessor for the line of David, from whose line, Jesus was born.
