Hi

I recently got married and have an eight year old daughter from a previous marriage.

She gets along great with my husband and we do not want to exclude her from our personalized "Thank you notes" since we honestly believe our union has made us a family and not only "a couple."

Is there a proper way to print out the notecards without excluding my daughter on the wording?

Also, We do not want to print the cards using our first names only.

Please Help!!!

Thank you in Advance!!!

I have received them with the first and last names of the parents and just the first name of the children but if you want formal notes you'll get the best advice from a company that prints wedding stationary. Printers usually have books full of invitations, announcements and thank you notes and you can usually find at least a few examples among them. The one I received most recently was worded John and Sally Smith and Kendra but I'm sure there are many appropriate ways to do it. If all else fails, you can call a wedding planner. They know everything and what they don't know they can usually find out. Congratulations on your recent nuptials.

If these are thank you notes for gifts you have received, I hope you are not sending out pre-printed generic thank yous! These should be hand written with the gift mentioned, and signed.

It is highly impersonal to send the pre-printed ones. And to many people, it just shows laziness on the sender's part. If the giver spent time buying a gift for you, they deserve a hand written thank you.

As for how to sign them, I think "Mary and Tom Jones" with "and Sally" underneath it is fine. However, I think it is rather strange to include her name on the thank yous. Even though you are a family now, the gifts were given to you and your husband.

I hope you have many happy years together!
