I'm having trouble with the super floss. My teeth are so tight I can't get the floss in between my teeth and on the rare occasion that I do I have to yank it out and it wrenches at the wire. Also I can't eat solid food. Is this normal?

You will be able to eat normally after a few days.

Try Glide floss. It's super-thin so you should be able to get it between your contact points. Hang on to the Superfloss for later.

I had braces for 3 years. It is normal for every time you get the braces tighten to not be able to eat solid foods. This should last a day or two. Take some Tylenol to help with any discomfort.

The ortho should have given you threaders to help you floss. Threaders are a piece of plastic that looks like a large needle. You can buy them at drug stores if they didn't give you any.

As your teeth move into their new formation, flossing will become easier. Good luck!

Use the floss threaders with a waxed floss while they are tight. Flossing is ultimately better than a water pik but if thats all you can manage its better than nothing. Things will continue to improve and you'll be able to eat, but as someone said, everytime they tighten things up you'll go through this again. I used to eat a ton of babyfood and applesauce

When I had braces I got a water pick. That helped to remove all the junk around my braces, teeth, and gums.

What you do is the people who put your braces should give a brush that can be used to floss and clean your braces! :-)
