I like 2 inspirational singing groups. One was maranatha praise, they did some mucic collections about 20 years ago that many tried to imitate but could never really duplicate.
the other is a duet Kevin Peay and I forget the others name, but they called themselves AfterGlow. Of course i can never find them or their cd's on the internet.
as a teenager i was turned on to Hard rock but as a christian I was told it was ALL evil and of satan, so i stopped listening to them and went through my anti rock preaching phase. Later I found that all kinds of music made me depressed if i listened to it long enough.
i love hearing worthy congregations singing hymns at church but if you hear the same hymns on cd they usually make it sound less meaningful.
The first time i heard Afterglow, I was uplifted out of depression and did not commit suicide like i wanted to. the first time i heard maranatha praise I would sing outloud with the volume up in the car in parking lots. ONE time i was in a Seattle Ferry singing very loud, and shortly after that I remember seeing a commercial on tv with someone singing in their Car.
I loved all those cd's and tapes, but 2 or 3 times i sold everything i owned and lost everything i had, so i no longer own possession of them.

This one
Jesus was way cool
Everybody liked Jesus
Everybody wanted to hang out with him
Anything he wanted to do, he did
He turned water into wine
And if he wanted to
He could have turned wheat into marijuana
Or sugar into cocaine
Or vitamin pills into amphetamines
He walked on the water
And swam on the land
He would tell these stories
And people would listen
He was really cool
If you were blind or lame
You just went to Jesus
And he would put his hands on you
And you would be healed
That's so cool
He could've played guitar better than Hendrix
He could've told the future
He could've baked the most delicious cake in the world
He could've scored more goals than Wayne Gretzky
He could've danced better than Barishnikov
Jesus could have been funnier than any comedian you can think of
Jesus was way cool
He told people to eat his body and drink his blood
That's so cool
Jesus was so cool
But then some people got jealous of how cool he was
So they killed him
But then he rose from the dead
He rose from the dead, danced around
Then went up to heaven
I mean, that's so cool
Jesus was way cool
No wonder there are so many Christians

Since you're not talking about Christian or spiritual music...Old Mariah Carey songs and Evanescence inspire me.

Most anything by the Doors, or the Moody Blues, or Peter, Paul and Mary. Gosh, I am showing my age aren't I.

Creed is cool, then again I think lots of songs are inspirational if they get you to think about something bigger than yourself.
