Gray hair is a sign that melanin depletion is occurring, so if one gray hair grows out, then it's a sure bet that very soon, the neighboring follicles will be experiencing depletion as well. Gray hair is a sign that cellular reproduction is slowing down or dying. Sometimes medical, but often genetic coupled with age.

nope you will always have the same amount of hair follicles on your head at all times. when you get older the gray hair grows out of the same place as the colored did, and for some people no more hair grows out of some follicles lol.
