No, you haven't been 1 cm the whole time. You are starting to get ready for labor, your doctor just doesn't think any time soon yet. If your last 2 pregnancys were on time and not early then you should be fine. And about your mucus plug, that doesn't mean you passed it yet either, most people don't pass that until more towards actual labor. But if you have then labor can still be days away. Anyway, 1 cm is not alot considering there you still have 9 more to go, so don't worry. But until recently you most likely were not 1 cm. Good luck with your labor and all though!

Your mucus plug is still in there most likely. This is a cap for your cervix that protects it from the movement of walking, squating, etc so your water doesn't break easily. It really has nothing to do with the dialation until you are 5-6 cm, then the plug may disslodge because there isn't anything for it to "stick to".
As for the dialation, it doesn't matter how "loose" you are. Being dialated takes place deeper in the vaginal cavity. You were not 1 cm dialated all along, but you are right, it is not much and many women spend the last month at 1-2 cm because the baby is pushing down on the pelvic bones and causing it to dialate to relieve pressure. However, since you are a little dialated, your chances of going into labor, having your water break or contracting a vaginal infection are greater. Be careful not to stretch your lower half too much.
Good luck and congrats!

No, your "mucus plug" is not gone. According to BABIES ONLINE "the mucus plug is exactly what it sounds like. A plug made of mucus that is in the opening of the cervix which blocks germs and bacteria from entering the pelvis and getting near the uterus.
During pregnancy the mucus is clear and would look much like a woman’s normal vaginal discharge. However as the cervix begins to thin out and blood is released, there will be some blood deposited onto the mucus plug. As a woman’s cervix opens she will begin losing the plug, either in bits of stringy, blood tinted mucus over a period of time, or all at once. This can happen up to two weeks before labor actually begins. "
During my second and third pregnancies, I was 3 cm dialated the last 3 weeks of my pregancies. I had to have "the waters" broken the last 2 pregancies also, which isn't fun (don't let the medical people tell you it's painless - that's a load of crap...!)
Best wishes on your new baby!

Some people never notice the plug-because it comes out a little at a time, or not until the start of labor. Everybody is different, and don't worry about the plug too much anyway. It doesn't really mean anything.
With my first pregnancy-I lost my mucous plug 2 weeks before my due date. Not only did that not bring me anywhere close to labor, but I never went into labor on my own. Had to be induced, and ended up having a c-section anyway.
Being a centimeter dilated, as you know, doesn't mean much anyway. You have not always been dilated, it happens towards the end of pregnancy-but you can walk around 1-2 cm dilated for weeks. What the doctor meant was this-after our first pregnancies, subsequent labors and deliveries are supposed to progress faster. So in other words, if you were close to labor or in labor, she would expect to see more progress sooner. She's just telling you that you are not showing signs of impending labor yet.

You are doing wonderfully and congratulations! What your doctor meant was due to your history of the previous births, 1cm is nothing for you to worry about, unless you have went into premature labor at 1cm. You can be dialated 1,2 and 3 for up to a month. Dont worry to much about your mucous plug, some women never know if they lose them or not. I never knew and i have had 4! Good news is once you dialate to 5 that is where the fun begins and things start happening usually within 12 hours! Hope this helps!

1 cm dilated is practically closed. Could mean your close to labor, could mean nothing, but I was 2 cm dilated for the last 3 months of my pregnancy and eventually had to get induced. The mucus plug usually doesn't come out until labor time so I doubt it has passed.

I am guessing that you didn't want to sound like an idiot asking your doctor these questions because you've had children before, right?
These are questions that he can answer for you or that his nurse can answer for you and yet you chose to ask yahoo answers.
You have nothing to worry about. Your kidlet is going to be just fine. You could be fully dialated and not be in labor. Your baby will let you know when he/she is ready to make an appearance.
Too much worry will stress your baby.
My advice; ask your doctor.

What an engaging question. i assume someone instructed you that really believers are allowed to interpret holy books. i have in no way easily heard that, yet there is a good number of issues i have not heard. I extremely loved your analogy. because it receives on the middle of the count number. I dare say that even an interpretation of Cervantes needs to be supportable from the textual content and reveal a actual understanding of the e book's content if all of us is going to take you heavily. Did your instructor imagine that any and all interpretations were both valid? change into it achievable to fail the category? I easily haven't any challenge in any respect with you examining my holy textual content. I merely wish you may want to do your homework slightly extra thoroughly earlier you bypass public along with your consequences. It would not worry me that you imagine the full component is a load of garbage. What bothers me is sloppy workmanship. peace
